==Summary==
''Duel continues from the [[Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS - Episode 100|previous episode]].''

On Roken's speedboat, Klarissa rapidly types into her laptop, stating that their chance will come when Bohman activates his Skill again. In Café Nom, Alec and Dr. Genome continue rapidly typing as Alec notes that it will be over if the Neuron Link takes down Zaizen and Ghost Gal, and Genome enthusiastically declares that they'll take it down. In LINK VRAINS, the Neuron Link continues to blast green lightning from its core, pursuing the few remaining Avatars, while in the LVCC, Zaizen and Ghost Gal continue to work as screens show the Avatars being impaled through the heads by the green lightning. Ghost Gal looks back at her holographic computer, noting that the logins have decreased after seeing how bad it is. Zaizen replies that he doesn't want anymore victims; they must stop Bohman. (In the dub he urges Ghost Gal not to focus on the panic, but on what they have to do to save the trapped users.)

In Mirror LINK VRAINS, Bohman stands on 4000 LP and Playmaker on 2500, while the 4000 ATK "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid" faces off against the 5500 ATK "Cyberse Clock Dragon". Ai asks how that is; "Cyberse Clock Dragon" has more ATK than "Dragrid". Bohman asks Ai if he forgot about his last turn, and Ai flinches back nervously. Bohman reminds them that they first Summoned "Cyberse Quantum Dragon" as their last-ditch effort to defeat "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid". Ai snaps that was then and this is now, but Bohman reminds him that their attempt to use "Quantum Dragon" didn't work. The many voices inside Bohman will determine his best move; due to the Neuron Link it's as if Playmaker is battling every human in LINK VRAINS, and the Neuron Link is analyzing Playmaker's information. Playmaker replies that even if he's facing many people, Bohman is the only one that he needs to defeat (in the dub, Playmaker declares that nothing is impossible, so he'll prove Bohman wrong now), and Bohman warns Playmaker that he can't win. Ai notes that as long as Bohman has the Neuron Link (admitting his loss in confidence in the dub), he'll try to activate his Skill again, and when he does he might be able to avoid the attack of "Clock Dragon". They have to do something about Bohman's Neuron Link. Alec then contacts them, asking if Playmaker can hear him, telling him that it's Faust and warning him not to respond to prevent Bohman from noticing. He tells Playmaker that many in LINK VRAINS have fallen victim to the Neuron Link, but they, along with Zaizen and Ghost Gal in LINK VRAINS, will stop the Neuron Link. Playmaker and Ai gasp quietly as Alec tells them this will be their best chance to defeat Bohman.

 +
Just then, Bohman raises his hand and the cross on his chest glows yellow as he activates his Skill. The Neuron Link crackles with an electrical aura, and Ai cries that Bohman's next Skill is coming. The Neuron Link flashes, disgorging a Data Storm. In Café Nom, Klarissa tells Alec and Genome that Bohman just activated his Skill, and Alec reassures her that they're ready. Genome laughs and comments "Here we go!" as he presses a key. Zaizen and Ghost Gal continue typing and Zaizen hits a key of his own, bringing up a progress bar. Outside, more and more Avatars are ensnared by the Neuron Link. The progress bar suddenly stops and displays an error; Ghost Gal explains that security is preventing the virus bomb from activating and they'll have to detonate it manually. Zaizen asks her to let him handle it, as he's more familiar with the security of LINK VRAINS (in the dub he claims to have helped design it). Meanwhile, Genome finishes uploading his code and he declares in satisfaction that the Knights' attack has been successful. Alec notes that now they need those in LINK VRAINS to attack.
 +

 +
But Bohman had noticed; he realizes that Zaizen, Ghost Gal and the Knights of Hanoi are the reasons why he had a bad feeling, and Ai yelps that Bohman found out. In the LVCC, Zaizen finishes his work, and he declare that now the virus bomb will be able to detonate. But then a portal opens in the ceiling and blasts a fork of green lightning from it. Zaizen barely sees it from the corner of his eye, but Ghost Gal shoves him out of the way and takes the blast instead. Zaizen turns and screams Emma's name, and as Ghost Gal falls she tells Zaizen that she's leaving the rest to him, smiling as she tells Akira not to mess up (in the dub she reminds him that he shouldn't just stand there when he has a job to do). Zaizen's hands shake in anger as he gets to his feet and begins to activate the virus bomb, but as he raises his finger for his final keystroke, the Neuron Link traps him too. Bohman comments that they are attacking the Neuron Link's weak point from both the inside and outside and he admits that their target was excellent. He tells Playmaker that it's too bad; Zaizen and Ghost Gal have now become part of the Neuron Link. Playmaker scowls and he clenches his fist, whispering their names (in the dub he says their names in anger) as in the LVCC, Zaizen's body begins to collapse limply to the ground. Bohman declares that the actions of humans can't affect him, but inside the LVCC, Zaizen is remembering embracing Blue Maiden as she disintegrated in his arms. Bohman asks Playmaker if he was counting on a miracle as the Data Storm descends to his hand, and Ai curses, but Playmaker claims that he wasn't counting on a miracle, but believing in his friends. Ai whispers Playmaker's name, and Bohman replies that those friends are no longer around (in the dub he coldly tells Playmaker that this time his friends failed him). He tells the new card created from his will to come as the Data Storm swirls in his palm and he declares "Master Storm Access".
 +

 +
But the Neuron Link turns black and the Data Storm dissipates, and Bohman asks why in surprise. Playmaker gasps that the activation of the Skill was stopped, and Ai asks why, wasn't Zaizen defeated? Genome and Alec wonder what's going on, but in the LVCC, Zaizen's finger has fallen onto the final key he needed to press to deploy the virus bomb, and his motionless body finally slumps to the ground. Alec whispers Zaizen's name, and he informs Playmaker that Zaizen and Ghost Gal gave their lives to destroy the Neuron Link. Playmaker says their names in anger (in the dub he comments that it seems his friends didn't fail) as Bohman screams in agony and clutches his head, gasping "This is..." as LINK VRAINS and Mirror LINK VRAINS begin to desynchronize again. Playmaker and Ai gasp in shock and they look around as blue figures begin to surround them. Playmaker asks what this is; he can see LINK VRAINS, and Ai asks what's going on (in the dub, Ai believes they're ghosts, and Playmaker deduces who they really are). In SOL Technologies, an employee cries that the Neuron Link has stopped, and Hayami orders them to log out the people who are still conscious. As the remaining Avatars are logged out, she desperately calls for Zaizen, asking if he's okay, but receives no response despite her begging. The corrupted Neuron Link blasts out purple and black sparks over the field as Ai triumphantly calls Bohman's claim they couldn't win a lie, and Playmaker vows not to let the sacrifices go to waste, declaring that he will defeat Bohman (in the dub, Ai states this, and Playmaker agrees, ordering the attack of "Clock Dragon"). Regardless, Bohman activates the effect of "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid" and the red cross on its head fades as Bohman orders "Judgment Dice".
 +

 +
But he rolls LIGHT Attribute, much to his shock, and Playmaker tells him that luck has deserted him and he won't be able to destroy "Clock Dragon". Bohman frowns and Ai tells Playmaker to attack now. Playmaker declares his Battle Phase, ordering "Cyberse Clock Dragon" to attack "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid", and as "Clock Dragon" shrieks, Ai tells it to attack as well. Playmaker orders its "Pulsating Surge" attack, and "Cyberse Clock Dragon" blasts the energy from its body and destroys "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid", reducing Bohman to 2500 LP. Ai cheers and Bohman looks up angrily as Playmaker ends his turn, Ai cheering that their LP are equal again (in the dub, Playamker is the one to say this). Up above them, Pigeon tells Frog that he thinks Playmaker is going to win, but Frog tells him that it's too early to celebrate, stating that he's counting his frogs before they've hatched. He bursts out laughing, and Pigeon protests that Frog is celebrating, but Frog simply tells Playmaker to do his best (in the dub, Frog claims that Playmaker's chances are more than 100%, though Pigeon protests that you can't have more than 100% of anything, which Frog disagrees with 200%).

Bohman reflects that it's just as Lightning said; the bond between humans is trouble (in the dub he comments that they must believe the Duel has turned in their favor, but assures them that it has not). He lets out a wild cry, and an aura of light blazes around him. Ai gasps "What?" as LINK VRAINS and Mirror LINK VRAINS suddenly realign, and Ai yelps that this is bad; the Neuron Link is being restored. The Neuron Link turns green again as Bohman declares that this is his world, and he can easily repair this level of damage; as long as he exists he can restore the Neuron Link over and over (in the dub, Bohman announces that they were able to break his Skill with their bonds, but his bonds can be easily repaired). They cannot escape from the Neuron Link. Genome cries that it didn't work, and Alec asks if there's no way to stop Bohman.
 +

 +
Ai looks up at the Neuron Link, and he vows not to let Bohman do this (in the dub, he notes that the Neuron Link hasn't been fully charged yet, and he won't let it be). He flies out of Playmaker's Duel Disk, and Playmaker calls Ai's name. Ai apologizes; he unlocked the Duel Disk himself as he flies towards the Neuron Link. Playmaker asks Ai what he's doing in horror, and Ai replies that now is the only chance; he won't allow the Neuron Link to be restored. Bohman asks in shock if Ai is going into the Neuron Link, and Ai declares that now's the only time that he'll be able to destroy the Neuron Link. As Bohman flinches in shock, Alec and Genome ask if the Dark Ignis is going to sacrifice itself for them. Bohman asks why Ai would sacrifice himself for humanity, and Playmaker begs Ai not to do it. But Ai replies that he wants to; even if Ai isn't around, Playmaker is connected to many people. Playmaker watches in horror and Bohman snarls that it's pointless (in the dub he declares that he'll stop hm), and at his silent command the Neuron Link blasts out electrical arcs that surge towards Ai. Ai cries that Playmaker said that when he was alone he only had a futile desire for revenge, that his views expanded by meeting his comrades. He dodges through the electricity, claiming that Playmaker has become stronger due to those bonds and begging him not to be afraid to make new ones. As he continues dodging, a fork of lightning finally nicks his shoulder, leaving behind a red wound, and Playmaker cries his name. Ai cries that Playmaker is connected; to Kolter, Soulburner, Blue Maiden, Varis, Zaizen, Spectre, Ghost Gal, Flame, Aqua, and Ai himself, but as he lists Playmaker's allies, more and more lightning arcs hit him and sever parts of his body as Playmaker watches in horror. (In the dub, Ai lists the names of Playmaker's friends earlier and adds Lightning and Windy, as he claims they only wanted peace) He begs Playmaker to defeat Bohman and save the world, and not to cry even if he's gone as he flies towards the Neuron Link. As Ai vanishes into the Neuron Link, he tells Playmaker goodbye. The Neuron Link flares brightly, and Playmaker screams Ai's name as the Neuron Link fades to purple and black again.

At Yusaku's house, Roboppi sadly cries that its bro is gone. Bohman muses that was self-sacrifice, but it was a useless act. Playmaker angrily replies "Useless?" and Bohman explains that the Duel will still end in Playmaker's defeat. Playmaker furiously tells Bohman not to say that; he won't forgive Bohman for disparaging his partner (in the dub he snarls that Ai gave him a chance to win, so his sacrifice wasn't pointless). He won't lose; he'll carry on Ai's wishes and defeat Bohman. Bohman retorts that even if their two wishes become one, it's nothing compared to the giant one he's gathered. Playmaker replies that Bohman is wrong, and he states that wishes without bonds can't defeat them. (In the dub, Bohman dismisses their wishes, as their cards and strategies are what's important and Bohman holds the advantage in both.)

Bohman vows to show Playmaker that what humans do is useless, and he claims that this is the final turn. He declares his turn and draws, then he activates the Spell Card "Hydradrive Readvent", allowing him to Special Summon a monster from his Graveyard with less ATK than the monster with the highest ATK Playmaker controls, but its effects will be negated. He revives "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid", explaining that the Special Summoned monster will be destroyed at the end of the turn. Pigeon cries that the scary monster is, back, but Frog tells him not to worry, as "Clock Dragon" has more ATK. But Bohman then activates the Link Spell Card "Judgment Arrows", and Frog cries that Bohman is using it now (in the dub he takes his statement back). Genome gasps that the ATK of "Dragrid" will be doubled, and if it destroys "Clock Dragon" Playmaker will lose.

 +
But Bohman declares that he'll show why he said that Ai's sacrifice was pointless, and he activates his Skill. Playmaker gasps "What?" and up above them, the Neuron Link glows green again and begins to move. Alec protests that it's impossible; the Neuron Link was destroyed. Winds begin to whip up, and Playmaker gasps that it's a Data Storm (in the dub he asks how this can be possible). Bohman declares that this is his world, and he can use it as data to make up for shortcomings. The Data Storm erupts from the sky, catching Frog and Pigeon in its grasp before they can move and they log out with a scream as it swirls them round. Klarissa laments the return of the Neuron Link after they sacrificed so much to stop it. Playmaker steps forwards, protesting that Bohman will be destroying this world, but Bohman declares that it's a small price to pay to defeat Playmaker. The cross on Bohman's chest glows and he tells the new card created from his will to come, declaring "Master Storm Access!" and the Data Storm concentrates in his palm into a new card. He chants "Appear now! The circuit that determines the truth!" and sets "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid", declaring that the Summoning condition is at least one Link Monster, then chants "The embodiment of God carves a brand new history! Come forth, almighty dragon! Link Summon! Link-5 Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon!" ("Bear witness to a monster that has no equal! The very embodiment of perfection! I Link Summon! Link-5 Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon!" in the dub). It has zero ATK, but Bohman activates its effect to place five Hydradrive Counters on it, and then it gains 1000 ATK for each. "Perfectron" increases to 5000 ATK, and Playmaker starts in shock. Klarissa is horrified that "Perfectron" has 5000 ATK, and Alec cries that this is bad; Bohman still has "Judgment Arrows" active. Genome adds that when Bohman deals damage, the ATK of "Perfection" will double and a single strike will be enough to defeat Playmaker.
 +

 +
Bohman declares his Battle Phase, but Playmaker activates the Trap Card "Return Risk Reservoir", Special Summoning a Level 1 monster from his Graveyard, and he revives "Protron". Then he activates the effect of "Linkuriboh" from his Graveyard, Tributing "Protron" to Special Summon it. This activates the other effect of "Return Risk Reservoir", allowing him to draw a card. Bohman scowls, but he attacks "Cyberse Clock Dragon" with "Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon" anyway. But Playmaker Tributes "Linkuriboh" to activate its effect, reducing the ATK of "Perfectron" to zero until the end of the turn. Alec sighs in relief, as even if the effect of "Judgment Arrows" activates, the ATK of "Perfectron" will still be zero, and Klarissa adds that Bohman will take significant damage instead, so he'll have to stop the battle.
 +

 +
But Bohman replies that he expected Playmaker to defend, and he continues the battle. "Perfectron" rises into the air and builds up a blast of energy in its maw, blasting it at "Clock Dragon". Playmaker is shocked that Bohman is continuing the battle, and Bohman explains that had he been attacking with "Dragrid", he would have stopped (in the dub, he claims to have the superior monster with the superior abilities), but due to the effect of "Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon" the battle damage will be reduced to zero, and by using one Hydradrive Counter "Perfectron" won't be destroyed. Playmaker gasps in shock as the attack hits, and "Cyberse Clock Dragon" survives unharmed. Genome asks in shock what the point was, and Alec states that all Bohman did was waste one of his counters. Playmaker asks what Bohman is doing (in the dub he declares that Bohman is up to something), and Bohman explains that when "Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon" battles all of Playmaker's monsters are destroyed, and Playmaker will take 300 damage for every "Hydradrive" Link Monster in the Graveyard. Playmaker gasps "What?!" and Genome reflects that there are eight "Hydradrive" Link Monsters in the Graveyard ("Alteration Hydradrive", "Burn Hydradrive", "Flow Hydradrive", "Coolant Hydradrive", "Twin Hydradrive Knight", two "Grand Hydradrives", and "Dragrid"). Alec gasps that Playmaker will take 2400 damage, and "Cyberse Clock Dragon" explodes, blasting Playmaker back with a scream and reducing him to 100 LP. Bohman ends his turn, and Klarissa grits her teeth, while Alec and Genome lament Playmaker's 100 LP. Playmaker begins to struggle to his feet, and Bohman declares that Playmaker managed to survive, but this Duel is over (in the dub he comments that this is where Playmaker's stubbornness has gotten him, and all that could have been avoided).
 +

 +
Playmaker gets to his feet, vowing that he won't lose for Ai's sake (in the dub he agrees, but declares that his stubbornness has also given him a chance to win this Duel - a chance he won't waste).

"Ai of the Beholder", known as "Unwavering Instinct" in the Japanese version, is the one-hundred and first episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. It first aired in Japan on May 8, 2019 and aired in Canada on January 10, 2021.

Bohman set up a "Neuron Link" to use the consciousness of humans to create his Data Storm. The three Knights, Akira, and Ghost Gal put their lives on the line and succeed to destroy the Neuron Link. However, Bohman starts repairing it right afterward, leaving Playmaker in despair...

Summary[edit]

On Roken's speedboat, Klarissa rapidly types into her laptop, stating that their chance will come when Bohman activates his Skill again. In Café Nom, Alec and Dr. Genome continue rapidly typing as Alec notes that it will be over if the Neuron Link takes down Zaizen and Ghost Gal, and Genome enthusiastically declares that they'll take it down.

Playmaker gets to his feet, vowing that he won't lose for Ai's sake (in the dub he agrees, but declares that his stubbornness has also given him a chance to win this Duel - a chance he won't waste).

Featured Duel: Playmaker vs Bohman[edit]

Duel continues from the previous episode.

Playmaker has 2500 LP and controls "Cyberse Clock Dragon" (5500/2000) in the Extra Monster Zone in Attack Position, as well as 1 Set card in his Spell & Trap Zone. Bohman has 4000 LP and controls "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid" (4000/←↙↓↘→) (with 1 Hydradrive Counter) in the Extra Monster Zone.

Turn 4: Playmaker

Bohman attempts to activate his Skill, "Master Storm Access", in order to access the Neural Link once per turn and add a random Cyberse monster to his Extra Deck. However, due to the actions of the Knights of Hanoi, Akira Zaizen, and Ghost Gal, it fails. Bohman activates the effect of "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid", removing 1 Hydradrive Counter from it ("Dragrid" "Hydradrive Counters: 1 → 0) to roll a die, then return "Dragrid" to his Extra Deck and Special Summon 1 "Draghead" monster from his Extra Deck, whose Attribute corresponds to the die roll (● 1: EARTH ● 2: WATER ● 3: FIRE ● 4: WIND ● 5: LIGHT ● 6: DARK). He rolls a 5 (LIGHT), however, because he doesn't have any LIGHT "Draghead" monsters in his Extra Deck, the effect of "Dragrid" resolves without effect.

Playmaker attacks and destroys "Dragrid" with "Cyberse Clock Dragon" (Bohman: 4000 → 2500 LP).

Turn 5: Bohman

Bohman activates "Hydradrive Readvent", allowing him to target 1 monster in his GY, whose ATK is less than the ATK of the monster his opponent controls with the highest ATK, and Special Summon it, but its effects are negated, and it will be destroyed during the End Phase. He Special Summons "Dragrid" (4000/←↙↓↘→) to the Main Monster Zone. Bohman activates "Judgment Arrows" (↖↑↗) in one of his Spell & Trap Zones that "Dragrid" points to. Bohman activates his Skill, "Master Storm Access", in order to access the Neural Link once per turn and add a random Cyberse monster to his Extra Deck. Bohman sets "Dragrid" (1 or more Link Monsters) in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon" (0/←↙↓↘→) to a Main Monster Zone "Judgment Arrows" points to. Since it was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, Bohman activates the effect of "Perfectron", placing 5 "Hydradrive Counters" to it ("Perfectron" "Hydradrive Counters": 0 → 5). "Perfectron" gains 1000 ATK for every "Hydradrive Counter" on itself ("Perfectron": 0 → 5000 ATK).

Bohman attacks "Clock Dragon" with "Perfectron", but Playmaker activates "Return Risk Reservoir", allowing him to Special Summon 1 Level 1 monster from his GY. He Special Summons "Protron" in Attack Position. Playmaker then activates the effect "Linkuriboh" in his GY, tributing 1 Level 1 monster he controls to Special Summon itself from the GY. He tributes "Protron". Since the monster that was Special Summoned by the effect of "Return Risk Reservoir" left the field, Playmaker draws a card. Bohman continues with his attack on "Clock Dragon" with "Perfectron". Since an opponent's monster is declaring an attack, Playmaker activates the other effect of "Linkuriboh", tributing it to change the ATK of that attacking monster to 0 until the end of the turn ("Perfectron": 5000 → 0). Bohman continues with his attack on "Clock Dragon" with "Perfectron". Due to the effects of "Perfectron", Bohman takes no Battle damage from battles involving it, and if it would be destroyed, he can remove 1 Hydradrive Counter from it instead ("Perfectron" "Hydradrive Counters": 5 → 4), ("Perfectron": 5000 → 4000 ATK). Since "Perfectron" battled, Bohman activates its effect, destroying all monsters his opponent controls after Damage calculation, and then inflicting damage to his opponent equal to the number of "Hydradrive" Link Monsters in Bohman's GY x300. "Clock Dragon" is destroyed and Playmaker takes 2400 points of damage (since Bohman has 8 Link Monsters in his GY). (Playmaker: 2500 → 100 LP).

Duel continues in the next episode.

Errors[edit]

  • During the scene where the ATK of "Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon" becomes 5000 by its own effect, the section of its upper-right arm that would be connected to its right wing is missing.
