"The Naked Commander" is the fifty-eighth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime. It first aired in Japan on May 14, 2023.

Having obtained MIK's most vital secret, Manabu pays a visit to UTS but is marked as a traitor and captured. When Zuwijo shows up out of nowhere, UTS welcomes him back with open arms. Manabu doesn't agree with this, so he challenges Zuwijo to a Duel in order to prove himself!

Summary

It is nighttime at Mutsuba Town. Manabu steals Phaser's secret and escapes the office with Nyandestar. At the UTS building, Yuamu is depressed that her brother, along with the rebels, have been turned into cards. The other UTS members grieve over Yuhi's loss. Menjaburo takes off his glasses, saying that if there's no Yuhi, then there's no Yuhi Gang. Manabu arrives with the most important of secrets. As he is about to show Phaser's secret, everyone captures him and Nyandestar.

They all berate him for what happened to Yuhi. Manabu introduces him and Nyandestar as the chemical commanders of the MIK and tells the gang that it was all an act to get Phaser's secret so he could expose him as he and Nyandestar are jailed. Menjaburo refuses to believe that. Ofuruno bets that Manabu could be a spy sent by Phaser and points out that he is a jersey with an MIK tag on the back. Manabu asks everyone why won't they believe him. Yuamu answers him that their friends have been turned into cards and no one is in a state of mind to believe his words. Manabu shows the gang a scroll, which was contained in the MIK's safes so it has to be contained with Phaser's secret. Maki and Purisaki unroll the scroll, revealing it to be blank, much to Nyandestar and Manabu's shock. Maki and Purisaki imagine how it would be nice to sew the scroll's cosplay. Nyandestar asks Manabu why did they grab the scroll. Manabu thought it was Phaser's secret since it was locked in the safe. UTS glares at him and he turns away. He also shows them three Maximum Monsters as does Yudias. Manabu is shocked and slumps over in defeat. Yudias tells him that they've also captured an executive so they can use him as a bargaining chip with the MIK. Yudias makes a plan: When the Ryugu brothers shows up, they can Rush Duel them. And no one else should be turned into a card anymore. Tazaki plans on avenging Yuhi. Ofuruno also wants to help while Menjaburo and Damamu convince Yudias to provide on his noodle assistance. Yudias agrees. Yuamu wonders in her thoughts if they could really win. She tells Yudias that it isn't time to fight yet. A knock is at the door and Yuamu answers it. It is Zuwijo, who has arrived to tell Yudias that it is not time to fight yet. He informs the gang that he has completed his mission in the Velgear Star Cluster mission, and that he and his friends learned to understand each other through Rush Duels. Yudias concludes that his planet is at peace now. Zuwijo is about to tell the others that something is worrying him on Earth, but Manabu complains about the warm welcome back. Muda warns him that if he continues to insult Zuwijo, he won't sit idly by. Dinois says that Nyandestar caused a lot of trouble as well. Manabu, shocked, laments about what happened in his events today in thought. He challenges Zuwijo to a Rush Duel. If he wins, everyone will have to understand him. Dinois and Muda tell him that if Zuwijo wins, Manabu will have to become one of their underlings. Zuwijo accepts the challenge. Yudias offers him the Maximum cards to defeat Manabu's Maximum, but he denies it.

Outside, Zuwijo and Manabu say their names, the latter adding he's not a traitor, and insert their Decks into their Duel Disks as they call "Go Rush!!". Zuwijo declares his turn and draws, his hand containing "Requiem Strike Back", "Diffuse Nebula", "Voidvelgr Hoplites", "Meteorlarva" and "Voidvelgr Kyrie". He Summons "Meteorlarva" with 600 ATK, "Voidvelgr Kyrie" with 200 ATK and "Voidvelgr Hoplites" with 1500 ATK. He activates the effect of "Meteorlarva" and sends the top cards of his Deck to the Graveyard for every monster on the field ("Fusion", "Dark Hole" and "Voidvelgr Requiem"). Zuwijo then Sets two cards, sends "Voidvelgr Hoplites" to the Graveyard and uses the effect of "Voidvelgr Kyrie" to add "Voidvelgr Requiem" from his Graveyard to his hand, much to Yudias and Yuamu's surprise. Zuwijo Tributes two monsters to Tribute Summon. He chants "From the expanse of empty sky, I call forth a wandering warrior's regrets. But this is not a mass for the dead! Voidvelgr Requiem!" as "Voidvelgr Requiem" is Summoned with 2500 ATK. Zuwijo ends his turn. Yudias, Yuamu, and Nyandestar are impressed of how well Zuwijo was prepared for the Duel.

Manabu declares his turn and fiery chemistonya draws, his hand containing "Volcalize Compound", "Chemical Distill", "Blazebolt Chemistorm Fenghuang Volcalize Phoenix [L]", "Blazebolt Chemistorm Fenghuang Volcalize Phoenix" and "Blazebolt Chemistorm Fenghuang Volcalize Phoenix [R]". He tells himself no matter what Zuwijo does, no one can extinguish the flames of his anger as an orange background appears behind him. He Maximum Summons "Blazebolt Chemistorm Fenghuang Volcalize Phoenix" with 3500 ATK, much to the surprise of Yudias, Yuamu and Nyandestar. Manabu tells everyone that it's the Maximum he risked his life to bring to them. If they won't use it, then he will help himself. Manabu then sends a Pyro Type from his hand to the Graveyard to activate Volcalize Phoenix's effect as his monster lets out a booming roar. He shouts "Maxi-Buster Burst Burning", dealing Zuwijo 1000 damage as his opponent's LP are reduced to 3000. Muda and Dinois gasp. Manabu tells Zuwijo that for the rest of this turn, "Volcalize Phoenix" can't be destroyed by his Traps. He returns "Chemical Distill" from his Graveyard to his Deck to activate the Spell, "Vocalize Compound". He chemistonya draws two cards ("Chemicalize Despise" and "Chemicalize Structure Force"). Menjaburo remarks that a barrage of attacks that won't even let someone slurp noodles. Manabu isn't done yet. His flames of rage will burn brighter yet. He chant "O billowing flames, become a superhot blade forged by chemical change! Bond with Vocalize Phoenix! Equip Spell: Chemicalize Structure Force!". Yuamu and Yudias are stunned that Manabu has activated an Equip Spell on a Maximum Monster. Manabu declares that the equipped "Vocalize Phoenix" gains 300 ATK for every different Type on both his and Zuwijo's fields. Vocalize Phoenix's ATK increases up to 4100. Manabu Sets one card and tells Zuwijo to feel his rage. He exclaims "Wrapped in flames, return all to nothing! Maxi-Fine Fire Fantastic!" as Vocalize Phoenix blasts a blue fireball shaped like a dragon at "Requiem", which is destroyed as Zuwijo's LP goes down to 1400. Yudias shouts Zuwijo's name in shock. Manabu taunts Zuwijo how powerful his rage is. Dinois tells him that his Maximum and Equip is strong, not him. Muda warns him don't get it twisted. Manabu pulls off a black cloth, revealing the Anti-Kartumata Beam. The beam electrocutes Muda and Dinois. Manabu reveals that the beam is the might of MIK's tech. When Yuamu hears him say "Chemi" over and over again, she and Yudias realize that Manabu is actually Dr. Manabu Sogetsu. Ofuruno thought it was an act. Nyandestar tells him that her owner had it in him. Yuamu tells her that is bad. Manabu, now insane, tells everyone that when he wins, they'll apologize for calling him a spy. Yuamu is annoyed at this. Manabu ends his turn and electrocutes Muda and Dinois again with the beam.

Zuwijo declares his turn and draws. He summons "Voidvelgr Pale Rider" with 1600 ATK and "Dark Prophet" with zero ATK. Manabu chuckles and tells him that when he summons a new type of monster, "Vocalize Phoenix" gains 300 ATK as his monster's ATK increases to 4100. As Zuwijo activates Dark Prophet's effect, he returns three DARK monsters from his Graveyard to the Deck to add a "Fusion" from his Graveyard to his hand. Manabu is shocked while Yudias and Yuamu feign support. Zuwijo activates the Spell Card "Fusion" to Fusion Summon by sending face-up monsters from his field to the Graveyard as material. Zuwijo sends "Pale Rider" and "Dark Prophet" from his field to the Graveyard and Fusion Summons "Voidvelgr Apocalypse" with 2500 ATK in Attack Position. He calls on Damamu and tells them that they must win this Rush Duel. He orders them to lend him their strength once more. Yudias warns him not to, but Zuwijo tells him it is okay. Damamu places their hands on Zuwijo's Duel Disk and uses Egil Velgear, enduring a pink glow and dark energy surrounding "Voidvelgr Apocalypse". The UTS members watch in awe as the monster saves Muda and Dinois from the beam. Yuamu exclaims that Zuwijo used Damamu's power to protect them. Zwuijo sends a card from his hand to the Graveyard to use Apocalypse's effect to increase its ATK by 1000 (3500 ATK) and prevent it from being destroyed by card effects until the end of this turn. Then, if it was Special Summoned this turn, he can add a "Dark Hole" from the Graveyard to his hand. He activates the Spell Card "Dark Hole" to destroy all monsters on the field. Ofuruno points out that Zuwijo is destroying all the vintage jerseys at once. Manabu tells Zuwijo that thanks to Structure Force's effect, "Volcalize Phoenix" can't be destroyed. Zuwijo chants "The absolute zero quantum wards that can block even rampaging wildfires! I equip Voidvelgr Shroud to Apocalypse!" as he activates the Equip Spell Card "Voidvelgr Shroud". Yudias is amazed that Zuwijo fused and brought out a new equip. Apocalypse's ATK is at 3800 as Zwuijo explains that Apocalypse gains ATK equal to all spells and traps on his field times 100. So as long as "Apocalypse" lives, Manabu can't destroy any of his spells or traps. Yudias exclaims "3800 ATK" and Yuamu realizes that "Apocalypse" still can't get over Manabu's Maximum. Zuwijo summons "Voidvelgr Kyriacos" with 1000 ATK and switches it to defense to activate its effect. "Apocalypse" gains 1000 ATK for the rest of this turn. Yudias exclaims "4800 ATK" as Nyandestar finds out that it can defeat "Volcalize Phoenix". Zuwijo chants "A hope born from depths of the event horizon. Its brilliance tears through the darkness! Voidvelgr Apocalypse, raise your blade! Slice karma in shimmering two!" as "Voidvelgr Apocalypse" conjures up a sword with dark energy and prepares to deliver the final blow at Manabu's monster, but Manabu activates the trap "Chemicalize Despise". He taunts at Zuwijo that his attack is negated and his karma slice has been sliced. Yudias and Yuamu are shocked. Zuwijo ends his turn. Manabu tells him that he tried his best but still couldn't defeat his "Volcalize Phoenix" in the end. With fire in his eyes in a heated rage, he bellows that his combustibility is infinite.

Manabu declares his turn and burning chemistonya draws, sending "Hot the Combustion Spirit" from his hand to the Graveyard to use Volcalize Phoenix's effect, "Maxi-Buster Burst Burning", causing Zuwijo's LP to fall to 400. Dinois cries out at Zuwijo's LP. Muda says that one more attack and Zuwijo is finished. Manabu activates "Chemicalizing Impact" and sends "Melt the Aqueous Spirit" and "Bolt the Conduction Spirit" from his hand to the grave then Volcalize Phoenix's ATK goes up to 2000 as his monster has 6100 ATK. Yudias confusedly says "6100 ATK" and Manabu yells that he is not done. He uses Volcalize Phoenix's second effect and destroys two monsters on Zuwijo's field. Damamu is disappointed that they're gone. Ofurun questions is why Manabu went through all that trouble to use his Maximum's effect. Yuamu thinks Manabu is amazingly stubborn. Nyandestar tells him don't take it out on Zuwijo. Manabu brings his Anti-Karutamata Beam and sets it on full power. The beam hits Dinois and Muda once again, but this time with Zuwijo as well. Zuwijo activates the trap "Diffusion Nebula". He chants "e ye souls of buried soldiers... Come and rise again! I special summon Voidvelgr Requiem!" as "Requiem" reappears with 2500 ATK. Zuwijo chooses the "Melt the Aqueous Spirit" in Manabu's Graveyard and return it to his Deck, much to his opponent's horror. He tells Damamu to lend him their power once more. Damamu uses Egil Velgear once again, making Zuwijo's monster more bigger as he is on top of it. Muda declares that it is his Egil Velgear Gyuruudo. Zuwijo places his hand on "Requiem", causing a dark purple energy to glow. He gets sucked inside, fusing him and "Requiem" as his Duel Disk is placed on his monster's arm. Manabu berates that he will burn Zuwijo down. He exclaims "Maxi-Fine Fire Fantastic!" as "Volcalize Phoenix" shoots a blue fiery beam at Zuwijo, but his opponent activates the trap "Requiem Strike Back", causing the beam to land on Manabu, reducing his LP to zero. Nyandestar turns on him, saying that what he gets for trying to one-up Zuwijo by raising his ATK so much. Zuwijo, in "Requiem", breaks the Anti-Karutamata Beam and sends Manabu flying.

Manabu wakes up and sees the others scolding him for trying to let Zuwijo lose. Yudias flashbacks what Zuwijo said earlier and thinks that they have the Maximum in their possession to duel with Phaser, it would have them suffering the same consequences as their fallen comrades. Muda tells Manabu that he will now become his and Dinois' underlings as promised, much to Manabu's horror.

Back at the MIK building, Tremolo informs his brother about the news for today. As Tremolo leaves, Phaser looks out the window and starts gasping for air.

At Phaser's bedroom, Tremolo tucks him in as the Butler finds them. Nearby, a bunch of scrolls sparkle. As the Ryugu brothers and their Butler head out, a fish-like creature zooms into the camera and covers their mouth, ending the episode.

Featured Duel: Manabu Sogetsu vs Zuwijo zir Velgear

This Duel is conducted as a Rush Duel.

Turn 1: Zuwijo
Zuwijo's hand contains "Requiem Strike Back", "Diffuse Nebula", "Voidvelgr Hoplites", "Meteorlarva" and "Voidvelgr Kyrie". Zuwijo Normal Summons "Meteorlarva" (600/0), "Kyrie" (200/500) and "Hoplites" (1500/100). Zuwijo activates the effect of "Meteorlarva" to send cards from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard equal to the number of face-up Galaxy Type monsters on his field. Zuwijo sends "Fusion", "Dark Hole" and "Voidvelgr Requiem" from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard. Zuwijo Sets "Diffuse Nebula" and "Requiem Strike Back" in his Spell & Trap Zones. Zuwijo activates the effect of "Kyrie", sending a face-up Level 7 or lower Galaxy Type monster from his field to the Graveyard to add a "Requiem" or a "Voidvelgr Chrysaor" from his Graveyard to his hand, then he can prevent a face-up card on his field from being destroyed by card effects until the end of this turn. Zuwijo sends "Hoplites" from his field to the Graveyard and adds "Requiem" from his Graveyard to his hand. Zuwijo Tributes "Meteorlarva" and "Kyrie" to Tribute Summon "Requiem" (2500/2000).

Turn 2: Manabu
Manabu's hand contains "Volcalize Compound", "Chemical Distill", "Blazebolt Chemistorm Fenghuang Volcalize Phoenix [L]", "Blazebolt Chemistorm Fenghuang Volcalize Phoenix" and "Blazebolt Chemistorm Fenghuang Volcalize Phoenix [R]". Manabu Maximum Summons "Volcalize Phoenix [L]" (2000/0), "Volcalize Phoenix" (2400/0) and "Volcalize Phoenix [R]" (2000/0) in Maximum Mode (3500). As "Volcalize Phoenix" is in Maximum Mode, Manabu activates its effect, sending a FIRE Attribute or Pyro Type monster from his hand to the Graveyard to inflict 1000 damage to Zuwijo, then this turn it cannot be destroyed by his Trap Card effects and can inflict piercing battle damage. Manabu sends "Chemical Distill" from his hand to the Graveyard (Zuwijo: 4000 → 3000 LP). As Manabu has a face-up FIRE Attribute monster on his field, he activates the Spell Card "Volcalize Compound", shuffling an Aqua/Pyro/Thunder Type monster from his Graveyard into the Deck to draw a card, then if he has a monster in Maximum Mode or an equipped Equip Spell Card on his field, he can draw a card. Manabu shuffles "Chemical Distill" from his Graveyard into the Deck and draws "Chemicalize Despise", then draws "Chemicalize Structure Force". Manabu activates the Equip Spell Card "Chemicalize Structure Force", equipping it to a face-up Aqua/Pyro/Thunder Type monster on his field to increase its ATK by the number of different Types among the face-up monsters on the field x 300, and if it is a Maximum Monster, it cannot be destroyed by Zuwijo's card effects. Manabu equips "Chemicalize Structure Force" to "Volcalize Phoenix" ("Volcalize Phoenix": 3500 → 4100). Manabu Sets "Chemicalize Despise" in his Spell & Trap Zone. Turn 3: Zuwijo
Zuwijo Normal Summons "Voidvelgr Pale Rider" (1600/0) and "Dark Prophet" (0/0) ("Volcalize Phoenix": 3800 → 4100). As "Dark Prophet" was Normal Summoned this turn, Zuwijo activates its effect, shuffling three DARK Attribute Galaxy Type monsters from his Graveyard into the Deck to add a "Fusion" from his Graveyard to his hand. Zuwijo shuffles "Kyrie", "Meteorlarva" and "Hoplites" from his Graveyard into the Deck and adds "Fusion" from his Graveyard to his hand. Zuwijo activates the Spell Card "Fusion" to Fusion Summon by sending face-up monsters from his field to the Graveyard as material. Zuwijo sends "Pale Rider" and "Dark Prophet" from his field to the Graveyard and Fusion Summons "Voidvelgr Apocalypse" (2500/2000) in Attack Position. Zuwijo activates the effect of "Apocalypse", sending a card from his hand to the Graveyard to increase its ATK by 1000 and prevent it from being destroyed by card effects until the end of this turn, then if he activated this effect during the Main Phase that he Special Summoned it, he can add a "Dark Hole" from his Graveyard to his hand. Zuwijo sends "Voidvelgr Peltast" from his hand to the Graveyard ("Apocalypse": 2500/2000 → 3500/2000), then adds "Dark Hole" from his Graveyard to his hand. Zuwijo activates the Spell Card "Dark Hole" to destroy all monsters on the field. Zuwijo tries to destroy "Apocalypse" and "Volcalize Phoenix", but due to its effect and the effect of "Chemicalize Structure Force" respectively, they are not destroyed. Zuwijo activates the Equip Spell Card "Voidvelgr Shroud", equipping it to a face-up Galaxy Type monster on his field to increase its ATK by the number of Spell/Trap Cards on his field x 100, and while it is face-up on his field, Spell/Trap Cards on his field cannot be destroyed by Manabu's card effects. Zuwijo equips "Voidvelgr Shroud" to "Apocalypse" ("Apocalypse": 3500/2000 → 3800/2000). Zuwijo Normal Summons "Voidvelgr Kyriacos" (1000/1000). Zuwijo activates the effect of "Kyriacos", changing its battle position to increase the ATK of a DARK Attribute Galaxy Type monster equipped with an Equip Spell Card on his field by 1000 until the end of this turn. Zuwijo changes "Kyriacos" to Defense Position and chooses "Apocalypse" ("Apocalypse": 3800/2000 → 4800/2000). "Apocalypse" attacks "Volcalize Phoenix". As Zuwijo's monster declared an attack targeting Manabu's face-up Pyro Type monster, Manabu activates his face-down Trap Card "Chemicalize Despise" to negate the attack, then if the Level of the attack target is higher than the Level of the attacking monster, he can destroy the attacking monster. Manabu tries to destroy "Apocalypse", but due to its effect, it is not destroyed. As Zuwijo ends his turn, the ATK of "Apocalypse" returns to normal ("Apocalypse": 4800/2000 → 2800/2000).

Turn 4: Manabu
As "Volcalize Phoenix" is in Maximum Mode, Manabu activates its effect. Manabu sends "Hot the Combustion Spirit" from his hand to the Graveyard (Zuwijo: 1400 → 400 LP). Manabu activates the Spell Card "Chemicalizing Impact", sending two cards from his hand to the Graveyard to increase the ATK of a face-up monster on his field by 1000 until the end of this turn, then it gains additional 1000 ATK until the end of this turn if he sent two Aqua/Pyro/Thunder Type monsters to the Graveyard this way. Manabu sends "Melt the Aqueous Spirit" and "Bolt the Conduction Spirit" from his hand to the Graveyard and chooses "Volcalize Phoenix" ("Volcalize Phoenix": 4100 → 5100 → 6100). Manabu's hand contains "Chemicalize Salamander". Manabu activates the effect of "Volcalize Phoenix [L]", shuffling a FIRE Attribute Thunder Type monster from his Graveyard into the Deck to destroy a face-up Level 9 or lower monster on Zuwijo's field, then if it is in Maximum Mode, he can destroy a monster on Zuwijo's field. Manabu shuffles "Bolt" from his Graveyard into the Deck and destroys "Apocalypse", then destroys "Kyriacos" ("Volcalize Phoenix": 6100 → 5800). As a face-up Galaxy Type monster on Zuwijo's field was destroyed by Manabu's card effect, Zuwijo activates his face-down Trap Card "Diffuse Nebula" to Special Summon a DARK Attribute Galaxy Type monster from his Graveyard to his field in face-up Attack Position, then he can shuffle a monster from Manabu's Graveyard into the Deck. Zuwijo Special Summons "Requiem" (2500/2000) from his Graveyard in Attack Position, then shuffles "Melt" from Manabu's Graveyard into the Deck ("Volcalize Phoenix": 5800 → 6100). "Volcalize Phoenix" attacks "Requiem". As Manabu's monster declared an attack targeting Zuwijo's face-up "Requiem" while his LP are at least 2500 higher than Zuwijo's, Zuwijo activates his face-down Trap Card "Requiem Strike Back" to negate the attack and inflict damage to Manabu equal to the ATK of the attacking monster (Manabu: 4000 → 0 LP).
