Eliphas

Eliphas is a character in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL who is the will of the Astral World. As such, he governs the entire realm and rules it with the purpose to Rank it up by destroying the Barian World, to whom he entrusted Astral with this mission.

Design

Appearance

Full body view of Eliphas.

Eliphas is physically large and muscular with teal and beige heterochromic eyes and long flowing blond hair. He wears gold plated sleeveless armor with large sapphires at the pauldrons and faulds and a large white cape at the back. His half helmet is crowned with three sapphire-covered tips and he wields an acute angled Duel Disk with a cyan interior.

Personality

Eliphas is fanatical in his disdain for Chaos and the beings that possess it, especially those he perceives as a menace to the Astral World. He even threatens his own people like Ena after Yuma cured them with his powers. Nonetheless, he shown to be lenient enough to let Yuma duel for Astral's sake.

Another trait is his adherence to Ranking up, especially to when it comes to his world.

Ablities

Eliphas performing a Shining Draw.

As the will of the Astral World itself, Eliphas is near omnipotent. He can appear anywhere he wishes and clone copies of himself. He can summon guard dogs and shoot lightning at those who happen to intrude into his domain, as shown while he was chasing Yuma.

As a denizen of the Astral World, he is also capable of performing multiple Shining Draws during a Duel.

Biography

Eliphas first appeared when Yuma Tsukumo arrived in the Astral World and touched the plants present there. Initially shrouded in a yellow light, he chased Yuma around, with the latter escaping several times with help from "Rainbow Kuriboh".

When Yuma found Astral, who was asleep, Eliphas reappeared once again. He explains that Astral's purpose was to destroy the Barian World for the sake of Ranking-Up their world, only now to be condemned to die of the darkness that now ravages his body as a result of Yuma's unintended betrayal at Sargasso. At Yuma's behest, he agrees to let Astral go if Yuma could defeat him in a Duel. He summoned "New Orders 4 Etheric Anubis" at the first turn, using the same Overlay Network the "Numbers" use.

Shrugging off Yuma's "Number 39: Utopia"'s first attack, he amazed Yuma by performing a Shining Draw, which Yuma believed was only possible for Astral and himself using ZEXAL. Eliphas then Ranked-Up his monster several times, going through "New Orders" "6", "8", "10" and "12". Yuma's use of "Rank-Up Magic - Numeron Force" to summon "Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory" ended up being in vain, being forced to defend his strongest monster against the "New Orders".

Before being defeated by the "New Orders" monsters, Yuma used his new "Rainbow Kuriboh" to defend against "Mahes", and tried to defeat Eliphas by attacking him directly. However, he shrugged it off and Eliphas presented Yuma with his strongest monster: "New Orders 13 Etheric Amen", the first Rank 13 Monster.

Using "Amen", Eliphas almost defeated Yuma once more, but was foiled by "Rainbow Kuriboh" once more. When Yuma performed a Shining Draw on his own and activated "Rank-Down-Magic Numeron Fall", Eliphas was amazed by the concept of "Rank-Down", and remained skeptical when "Number 39: Utopia Roots" appeared. Yuma's combination of "Utopia Roots" and his old "Double or Nothing!" card, which won him his first Duel alongside Astral, surprised Eliphas and attacked the massive thirty-three Overlay Unit-holding "Amen", depleting Eliphas' Life Points.

After his defeat, the Astral World's citizens used their power to heal Astral's wounds, and he and Yuma were reunited. However, when energy from the Barian World entered the Astral World, he told them how to get home. He handed Astral a card and restored Yuma's Emperor's Key. After Yuma and Astral left, Eliphas' mask broke in two, revealing the upper part of his face being similar to Astral's.

Eliphas uses an "New Orders/Etheric" Deck focused on Double Rank-Up monsters, which resemble Egyptian deities. He is the first character to Double Rank-Up monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL. His "Rank-Up Advantage" also grants him extra draws for each successful Rank-Up, allowing him to potentially perform multiple Shining Draws each turn, while "Rank Domination" ensures that his high-Rank Xyz Monsters are difficult to defeat in battle.
