Botan Kenzaki (けんざき ぼたん Kenzaki Botan) is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. She is the vice president of the Student Council at Goha #6 Elementary, working with Janko Entant and Osamu Rojihara.

Design[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Botan is a skinny girl with pale brown hair with a hair band and turquoise eyes. She wears a white collared shirt, a small greed bow around her neck, and a blue jacket. She also wears a yellow hexagonal badge on her left lapel and a pale blue skirt.

Personality[edit]

While most of the time she acts very passive, she is also the complete opposite when it comes to food. When Kaizo watched her eat, he is completely terrified of her and calls her a monster. This is because he has watched her eat a full tables worth of food (the fourth table in a matter of minutes) and eat food out of other peoples hands in just a matter of seconds.

Biography[edit]

History[edit]

Botan, Osamu, and Janko are kicked off the Goha 6th Student Council.

Botan was formerly on the Goha #6 Elementary Student Council with Janko and Osamu, but they were kicked off after losing Duels to Asana Mutsuba's Heavy Cavalry Duel Club. Following this event Janko was traumatized and became reliant on the sensation of drawing cards, so Botan and Osamu made sure to carry spare boxes for Janko to draw from.[2]

Janko learned of Rush Dueling, a format that allowed the player to draw until they held five cards on each of their turns, though the traditionalist Heavy Cavalry Duel Club refused to permit them at Goha 6th Elementary. He, Botan, and Osamu decided to hold a Dark Rush Duel Tournament in secret at the old Goha 6th Elementary campus in defiance of this rule, advertising it as the "Trumpet Duet Tournament".[2]

Goha 6th Elementary[edit]

Botan and Osamu hold Janko back from drawing too many cards.

Botan and Osamu met Yuga Ohdo, the creator of Rush Dueling, at the Dark Rush Duel Tournament, and his friends Luke, Romin Kassidy, Gavin Sogetsu, Kaizo and Seatbastian. Janko began explaining the tournament to them but had one of his seizures and Botan and Osamu quickly provided cards for him to draw. As Yuga and his friends had come under the belief they were participating in the Trumpet Duet Tournament, Luke was angered over training for nothing and challenged Janko to a Rush Duel to vent his frustrations. During the Duel Botan and Osamu had to prevent Janko from breaking the rules by drawing too many cards each turn, and they were bolstered by Janko's claims of rebellion. Unfortunately after Janko was defeated by Luke they were discovered by the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club and marched back to Goha #6 Elementary, where they were joined by Yuga and his friends after Yuga was defeated by Asana in a Rush Duel.[2][3]

Yuga was eventually able to Rush Duel Asana again, and this time he defeated her. After the Duel Asana decided to allow Rush Dueling at Goha 6th Elementary and she reinstated Botan, Osamu and Janko on the Student Council. Janko joyfully told the student body the news, but Botan and Osamu once again had to provide cards for him to draw when he had one of his seizures.[4]

Team Battle Royal[edit]

An official Goha-sponsored Rush Duel Tournament, the Goha Rush Duel Team Battle Royal, was announced, and Botan, Janko and Osamu entered the tournament as a three-person team.[5] Osamu, Janko, and Botan failed to place in the tournament, so they attended the finals of the Goha Rush Duel Team Battle Royal on the third day, watching Romin's victory against Roa Kassidy and Gavin's Duel against Nail Saionji and were shocked by Gavin's new "DJ G" persona. Faced with "Yggdrago the Sky Emperor", Gavin eventually returned to his normal persona and forced a DRAW, leaving Yuga and Luke to have a final Duel.[6][7]

Botan watched Yuga and Luke's Duel. After Yuga Summoned "Hyper Engine Vast Vulcan", the Solid Vision images of the monsters began to glitch, and Botan learned from the Duelstronauts that the Goha Duel Server was actually on the moon and the portion that contained the data for Rush Duels, the Super Rush Robot, was being eroded in an effort to uninstall Rush Dueling.[8] Yuga and Luke decided to continue their Rush Duel despite knowing it would erase the format, and Luke eventually defeated Yuga, winning the tournament. Afterwards the Rush Duel program on the surface of the moon was destroyed, but Yuga had immediately reinstalled Rush Dueling and had the Super Rush Robot reconstructed out of space debris by Nail, making it a far stronger program. Botan and her friends then watched Luke's coronation.[9]

Goha 6 Siblings[edit]

Following the Goha Rush Duel Team Battle Royal, the Goha Six, the true Goha Presidents, returned to Earth and issued a challenge to Yuga and his friends with the Super Rush Robot held hostage. After Yuga and his friends lost three times to the Goha Six out of the required six, Gavin called a meeting of the Goha #7 and #6 Student Councils at GastroByte to fight against Yuo Goha's Fusion Summon. As Gavin and his aides Rayne and Rino introduced themselves, Janko had one of his seizures, forcing Botan and Osamu to provide him with cards to draw. After they ordered, Botan lost control and devoured everyone's food in seconds while Osamu and Gavin were arguing and Janko told her off for lacking restraint, though Gavin and his aides forgave Botan and ordered again. Despite Janko's lecture, Botan was unable to restrain herself and ate everyone's food again after Romin arrived, resulting in Romin calling Kaizo to help Rayne and Rino keep an eye on Botan. However Gavin recounting of how Kaizo was trapped in a bike seat due to Nail Saionji's actions distracted everyone long enough for Botan to eat their food again. Everyone ordered for a fourth time, but this time their own quirks distracted them from keeping their eyes on Botan, who ate everyone's food again, though this time Kaizo witnessed her actions and called Botan a monster. Botan for her part timidly asked if they could order again.[10]
