Damamu

Damamu (ダマムー Damamū) is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime. They are Yuhi Ohdo's Earthdamar, having eventually gained free will after being extracted from his body and manifesting a physical body for themselves, and they are sought by Zuwijo zir Velgear as part of his plan to win the war in the Velgear Star Cluster.

Design[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Full-body view of Damamu.

Damamu is an androgynous child who resembles their progenitor, Yuhi Ohdo. They have pale skin and purple eyes with large white pupils resembling the Southern Cross star, and their hairstyle resembles a "softer" version of Yuhi's, with a yellow underlayer, a predominantly red top with a tuft at the back, and an orange tuft at the front resembling Yuhi's distinctive spike. Damamu wears a white jumpsuit with ornaments at the neck and wrists of green orbs and golden half-circles, blue padding over the seams of their shoulders and ankle cuffs, and padded white boots with blue soles. In the second season, Damamu also occasionally wears a black gakuran.

Damamu possessing Yuamu Ohdo.

While possessing Yuamu Ohdo, her eyes turn red and Damamu steals and wears Yudias Velgear's UTS hat.

Personality[edit]

Damamu has an entirely innocent personality with no intention to cause harm, but little comprehension of the chaos they can cause. They enjoy anything that will interest them, but have a special love for Rush Dueling and "Fusion" in particular. Due to being born from a source of positivity, any depression can severely affect them.

Abilities[edit]

Damamu possesses a wide range of abilities that eclipse those of the Earthdamar they originate from. They are capable of entering and possessing people and enclosing them and others in a purple energy sphere that allows them to travel at faster-than-light speeds with little injury to themselves, their hosts and their passengers. They can also enlarge when in distress, growing to be the size of a skyscraper. Their mere presence allows Zuwijo zir Velgear to use the abilities of "Egil Velgear" and "Egil Velgear Gyruudo" to manifest and clad himself in Rush Duel monsters respectively.

Etymology[edit]

Damamu is named by Yuhi Ohdo while they are possessing Yuamu Ohdo, as a combination of "Earthdamar" and "Yuamu".

Decks[edit]

Ranran's Deck[edit]

In their first Rush Duel, Damamu possesses Ranran Nanahoshi and uses her Deck.

Yuamu's Deck[edit]

In their second Rush Duel, Damamu possesses Yuamu Ohdo and uses her Deck.

Battleship Rush Duel[edit]

For their Battleship Rush Duel with That Guy after having acquired a body of their own, Damamu uses a combination of Yuhi Ohdo and Yuamu Ohdo's Jointech and High Tech Dragon Decks. For their Rush Duel with Chupataro Kaburagi while in the Kuaidul Spacetime, Damamu reuses this Deck.

Tamabot[edit]

For their Rush Duel with Yuhi Ohdo after getting brain freeze, Damamu takes and uses a Deck Yuhi built centered around the "Tamabot" card.

Duels[edit]

Opponent(s) Episode(s) Outcome
Muda Velgear 43 Win (Duel taken over from Ranran Nanahoshi)
Yuhi Ohdo 47 Win
That Guy 49-50 No Result (Duel taken over by Yuhi Ohdo)
Chupataro Kaburagi 78 Win
Yuhi Ohdo 112 Lose

Other appearances[edit]

Trivia[edit]

  • Damamu's personality while possessing Yuamu Ohdo appears to reference the character Arale Norimaki from Dr. Slump. Arale is a robotic bespectacled young girl with a naïve and excitable personality who has an obsession with poking pink poop with a stick; Damamu does the same with an oversized scoop of green ice-cream shaped in a similar fashion and is occasionally drawn in a deformed style.
