Sabyuas

Sabyuas (サビュアス Sabyuasu) is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime. He is one of the Darkmen from the Dark Matter Empire, encountering Yudias Velgear, Yuhi Ohdo, Damamu, and Ehoko Kamijo during the third season, and refers to himself as The Black Angel of Tragedy (悲（ひ）劇（げき）の黒（くろ）き天（てん）使（し） Higeki no Kuroki Tenshi).

Design

Sabyuas' humanoid form is a blue-skinned alien with navy blue eyes and midnight blue hair swept back from the left side of his head. He wears a long midnight blue coat over a tight dark grey top that ends in a similar fashion to a suit shirt, black pants that flare at the cuffs and appear to be merged with his footwear, and black gloves with long triangular cuffs set with long teardrop-shaped blue stones. His chest is set with a diamond-shaped golden brooch containing a blue diamond-shaped gem. Uniquely among the Darkmen, Sabyuas wears a grey half-mask that covers the left side of his face, with an aqua lens and curved black markings around the eye.

Sabyuas transforms into a slim panther-like form while travelling through space. This form shares the midnight-blue coloration of his hair and coat and the brooch on his chest, but lacks eyes, instead having aqua markings resembling a stylized visor.

Personality

Sabyuas is somewhat reserved in his speech and emotions, but also not afraid to express them. Sabyuas enjoys the suffering of others, even if this is something as trivial as preventing someone from going to the bathroom. Despite this, when defeated by Yuhi Ohdo in a Rush Duel, he allows him to use the bathroom with little argument, even ordering CPT to assist him. He claims that all the Darkmen keep their word once it is given.

Voice/mannerisms

Sabyuas' speech is ambiguous and embellished, regularly using complicated words and phrases. He uses "sa" as both a personal pronoun and a prefix to his sentences. Sabyuas also addresses other people in an unusual fashion, instead of addressing people by 君 (kimi), he instead says キ (ki).

Abilities

Sabyuas is capable of inhabiting shadows and materializing from them. He can also materialize a Duel Disk from darkness. Sabyuas can transform into a panther-like form, with which he can travel at lightspeed. Despite his apparently non-human nature, his presence does not cause Yuhi Ohdo's hair to spike up as it otherwise would in an alien presence.

Biography

Sabyuas encountered Valvelgear while he was traveling through space, running alongside the spacecraft, where he was seen by Damamu and Ehoko "Epoch" Kamijo. When Valvelgear crash-landed on the Mine Planet, Sabyuas concealed himself under the spacecraft until he encountered the Valvelgear CPT, who became smitten with him. They returned to Valvelgear's bridge together, Sabyuas concealing himself in Yuhi Ohdo's shadow. When he heard Yuhi express his discomfort with Valvelgear's bathroom facilities being damaged, Sabyuas revealed himself to prevent Yuhi going to the bathroom, unsure why it made the boy suffer, but enjoying it nonetheless and challenging Yuhi to a Rush Duel over whether he could use the bathroom. After Sabyuas Set monsters to power up his "Dark Matter Knight", Yuhi gambled on one of those monsters having 0 DEF to inflict a piercing attack with "Blue Tooth Burst Dragon" and end the Rush Duel as quickly as possible, but Sabyuas switched the attack to "Dark Matter Knight" instead and inflicted the damage to Yuhi. He pushed Yuhi into a corner with "Dark Matter Enigmata" on his next turn, but to his shock Yuhi Fusion Summoned "Bluetech Burst Rex", whose anti-Set card effect completely countered Sabyuas' strategy and defeated him. Defeated, Sabyuas kept his word and allowed Yuhi to use the bathroom, even ordering CPT to assist in it repairing the facilities, revealing the name of the Dark Matter Empire to Yudias, who was as unfamiliar with the organization as Sabyuas had been of beings who lived in the light. Sabyuas returned to his panther form and departed, admitting a desire to see their suffering faces again.

Sabyuas uses a Dark Matter Deck. His Dark Matter monsters are based on chivalry's elements, and his strategy focuses heavily on using Set cards to gain advantage and manipulate his opponent's attacks.
