Overlay Network

An Overlay Network is a network created as part of an Xyz Summon in the anime and manga.
All Xyz Monsters except special monsters, like the "Numbers", are Xyz Summoned through a red, spiraling portal. The Xyz Materials then turn into orbs of light which orbit the Xyz Monster, who absorbs them when the player detaches them. When a "Number" is Xyz Summoned, a space-themed gate appears into which the Xyz Materials (in energy form) transfer. The gate explodes, and the sealed form of the Summoned "Number" appears, which then transforms itself into its true form.
