An Overlay Network (オーバーレイ・ネットワーク Ōbārei Nettowāku) is a portal used to travel through dimensions anywhere within Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime and manga series. It can be used for communication, as the sound also travels through them. This way, the portal stays opened until a message is transmitted or conversation is finished.

The Barian race is able to do so using it to instantly teleport themselves to another place. The Crest's on the Vetrix Family body is able to create an Overlay Network, which then dematerializes its owner or another crest owner from one place and re-materializies them to another place. Quattro disappeared with a wind gust, Trey with a blinding light, and Vetrix with a short blackout. In Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL II, the Different Dimension Airship uses the Overlay Network to travel to places such as from the inside of the Emperor's Key.

Dueling Overlay Network.

According to Konami, Xyz Monsters have traveled to Yuma's dimension using an "Overlay Network" from the other side of a black hole. As duelists Xyz Summon, a portal appears in which the Xyz Materials (in energy form) transfer into. The portal explodes, and the Xyz Monster unveils itself. All Xyz Monsters, with special exceptions like the "Numbers", are Xyz Summoned through a red, spiraling portal. The Xyz Materials then become orbs of light which orbit the Xyz Monster. When detached by the player, the orbs are absorbed by the Xyz Monster in its own specific way. When a "Number" monster is Xyz Summoned, a space-themed portal appears into which the Xyz Materials are drawn into as energy streaks. The portal explodes, and the sealed form of the Summoned "Number" appears, before transforming itself into its true form. However, some "Number" monsters, such as "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" and "Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech" do not have sealed forms; in their case, they simply emerge from the Overlay Network. Also, "Number 9: Dyson Sphere" does not emerge from the Overlay Network, but materializes in space.
