Illusion (
The Dreams Alignment, appearing in a few early video games, is based on this Type and shares its Japanese name.

Overview
In the manga, the Illusion Type was used by Maximillion J. Pegasus. Members included "Illusionist Faceless Mage", "Dark-Eyes Illusionist", "Relinquished", "Thousand-Eyes Restrict", and an unnamed monster. They were supported by "Black Illusion Ritual". The Type is strong against the Black Magic Type and weak against the Fiend Type. In the Japanese manga, it is usually referred to with the same name ultimately used in the OCG, but was called "Illusionist" (幻想師 Gensōshi) in one occasion. In the English manga, it is referred to as "Illusionists" at one point and "Illusion" at another.
In the 1998 Bandai Carddass game, the Type was assigned to "Dragon Capture Jar" and "Dragon Piper", which were also cards used by Pegasus.
Most Illusion Effect Monsters released in the TCG/OCG share the effect that no monster can be destroyed by battles involving them (including themselves), incorporate the Eye of Wdjat in their artworks. Furthermore, almost all of them feature a nearly monochromatic abstract background, the only exceptions being "Fluffyfluff" and "Illusionist of Jongleurghoul" that are also the only Flip and Normal Monsters respectively, as well as "Diabellze of the Original Sin" that's also the first Illusion monster belonging to an archetype and lacks the effect of preventing monsters from being destroyed in battles.
