DIVINE (神 Kami, "God") is an Attribute in Yu-Gi-Oh!.

DIVINE was originally not a legal Attribute, and as of yet, has no support. However, with the inclusion of the first legal "Egyptian God" Card, "Obelisk the Tormentor" as a V-Jump Promotional Card with the February 2009 issue, it was the first "Official" Monster Card of the "Divine" Attribute. With the release of the "Legal" versions of "The Winged Dragon of Ra", "Slifer the Sky Dragon" and "The Creator God of Light, Horakhty" there are a total of 4 monsters with the "Divine" Attribute.

The DIVINE Attribute is exclusive to the Egyptian God monsters in the TCG/OCG. It is not present in TCG/OCG in their first release, but was added to them in 2010 and 2008 respectively, when the legal "Obelisk the Tormentor" was first released. Before then, three illegal collector's card versions of Egyptian Gods were released with the DIVINE Attribute.

DIVINE monsters exist in the manga and anime as a playable archetype. DIVINE monsters are also featured in various video games, usually as Effect Monsters.

Outside of the OCG and TCG, monsters other than the Egyptian Gods have also been DIVINE. For example, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga, the three Wicked Gods are DIVINE, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, the "Sacred Beast" monsters, except "Armityle the Chaos Phantom" are DIVINE, and in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, the three "Aesir" are DIVINE.

In the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga, the "Wicked Gods" are considered as DIVINE, but when they were released in real life, they had their Attribute changed to DARK, making them then-tournament Legal.

In [[Yu-Gi-Oh! DIVINE cards have their own black and gold frame and only one DIVINE card can be included in a Deck.

Besides the "Wicked Gods" and the "Egyptian Gods", in episode 117 of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's an introduction to the Three "Aesir" was made, these being the first DIVINE Attribute Synchro Monsters ever seen. All of them are properties to the members of Team Ragnarok. However, in the TCG/OCG, their Attributes were changed: "Thor" was changed to be EARTH, "Loki" was changed to be DARK, and "Odin" was changed to be LIGHT. Also, while the "Aesir" were DIVINE Monsters, all of the card that gave direct support to Aesir actually gave support to the DIVINE Attribute.

In Reshef of Destruction, certain monsters (including the "Egyptian God" Cards) were DIVINE in order to bypass the Attribute automatic destruction when dueling. All of them have a cost of 999. Most Ritual Monsters in the game, including those that were made as Normal Monsters, are DIVINE. These monsters are "Black Luster Soldier", "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", "Chakra", "Cosmo Queen", "Crab Turtle", "Dokurorider", "F. G. D.", "Fiend's Mirror", "Fortress Whale", "Garma Sword", "Gate Guardian", "Hungry Burger", "Javelin Beetle", "Magician of Black Chaos", "Mask of Shine & Dark", "Master of Dragon Soldier", "Millennium Shield", "Obelisk the Tormentor", "Performance of Sword", "Psycho-Puppet", "Relinquished", "Sengenjin", "Serpent Night Dragon", "Skull Guardian", "Slifer the Sky Dragon", "Super War-Lion", "The Winged Dragon of Ra" (Phoenix, Battle, and Sphere modes are all treated as separate cards), "Thousand-Eyes Restrict", "Tri-Horned Dragon", and "Zera the Mant".

DIVINE (かみ Kami, "God") is an Attribute in Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Overview[edit]

The DIVINE Attribute is exclusive to the Egyptian God monsters in the TCG/OCG. It is not present in TCG/OCG in their first release, but was added to them in 2010 and 2008 respectively, when the legal "Obelisk the Tormentor" was first released. Before then, three illegal collector's card versions of Egyptian Gods were released with the DIVINE Attribute.

Appearancce in media[edit]

Outside of the OCG and TCG, monsters other than the Egyptian Gods have also been DIVINE. For example, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga, the three Wicked Gods are DIVINE, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, the "Sacred Beast" monsters, except "Armityle the Chaos Phantom" are DIVINE, and in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, the three "Aesir" are DIVINE.

Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM[edit]

In Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM, the DIVINE Attribute is used by the Sacred Beasts; "Raviel, Lord of Phantasms", "Uria, Lord of Searing Flames" and "Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder". DIVINE cards have their own black and gold frame and only one DIVINE card can be included in a Deck.[1]
