Dan |
Dan, unnamed in the Japanese version where he is simply called a passerby (通行人 tsūkōnin), is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. He is based on a passerby from the manga.
Biography[edit]
At the commencement of the Battle City tournament, Dan observed the amount of Duelists walking by and asked his acquaintance Bob who they were. Bob did not know and wondered what the Duel Disks on their arms were. (In the English dub, Dan instead asked if the Duel Disks were a new fashion trend and Bob replied that they were giant wristwatches, which are very hot right now.)[1]
Dan and Bob were overheard by two Duelists, who approached them to explain that starting today, the city was to become Battle City, a battlefield for Duel Monsters. The Duelists warned them to walk on the edge of the sidewalk if they did not want to get hurt. (In the English dub, the Duelists told them what the Duel Disks were called and that they were part of Battle City, the greatest Duel Monsters competition of all time, and told them to step aside because the Duelists were taking over the town.)[1]
Dan and Bob watched Yami Yugi Dueling the Rare Hunter and were surprised to see a monster coming out of a card. The Duelists they spoke with earlier informed them that that is Duel Monsters and that starting that day, Duelists would tear through the city.[1]
