Exodia the Forbidden One (character)

Exodia the Forbidden One, known as Exodia (エクゾディア Ekuzodia) or the Demon God of the Palace (おうきゅうじん Ōkyū no Majin) in the Japanese version, is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.

Exodia was a ka which Shimon Muran could summon, and was used in the battles against the foreign invaders and Zorc Necrophades. Its corresponding Duel Monsters card is "Exodia the Forbidden One".

Biography[edit]

Exodia was summoned by the Sacred Guardians, shortly after the forging of the Millennium Items. It, along with other ka, was used to defend Aknamkanon's kingdom from armies of foreign invaders.[1] Legends said that it defeated a thousand soldiers in a single night. Shimon was cautious of its overwhelming power, so he sealed Exodia in five separate slabs.[2]

During the battle against Zorc Necrophades, Shimon recovered the Millennium Key, that he had once given to Shada, from Shada's deceased body and used its power to Summon Exodia from its five slabs. Exodia began to grapple with Zorc and ripped off one of his arms. However Zorc regenerated the arm and commented that it was useless, he was immortal. The battled continued and Zorc ripped off one of Exodia's arms. Shimon claimed that Exodia was also immortal and it similarly regenerated its arm. (The scenes of limb removal are cut from the dub.) The battle continued and Zorc questioned the claim of immortality. Zorc drew strength from the power of darkness, whereas Exodia drew from the life force of a single human. Shimon got Exodia to launch its "Obliterate" attack at Zorc, who became engulfed in flames, but managed to endure it. Zorc fought back with a "Dark Phenomenon" attack, splitting Exodia down the middle. Its destruction drained Shimon's life force, killing him.[2]
