Negative Levels are a new concept in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, and are used exclusively on the new Dark Synchro Monsters. This effect does not appear to be able to be replicated with card effects that would lower a monster's Level to 0 or lower, such as with "Demotion". Currently, the only card that can cause a monster to have "Negative Level(s)" is anime-exclusive Spell Card Dark Wave.

They are represented by Negative Level Star, which aligns to the left of the card, whereas "Positive" Level Stars align to the right.
