"Dotedotengu", a card whose activation timing mentions possession

Possess is the term used to describe who has a card at a given time. It is similar to the term control, but it also applies to locations other than the field, such as the hand or Deck.

This term was first introduced in Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World on the updated card text of "Dark Necrofear" (although "Dark Necrofear" no longer uses the term in its latest card text due to its activation timing changing). It was then used in Abyss Rising, in the card text of the "Madolche" cards. It is a part of the Problem-Solving Card Text and clarifies that possession of a card includes having that card in your hand, your Deck, or your side of the field.

Cards are in a player's possession if they on their side of the field; in their hand, Main Deck, Extra Deck, or Graveyard; about to Summoned;[1] or attached as an Xyz Material to a Xyz Monster in their possession.[2] Banished cards are in their owner's possession.
