A Transformation Summon is the act of Special Summoning a Transformed Monster from the Extra Deck. This is done through the effects of certain cards, including "Form Change" and "Mask Change".

Chazz Princeton explained that Transformation Summoning is like Fusion Summoning, but with only a single component.

To date, Transformation Summons exist only in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga and exclusively within the "Masked Hero" archetype.

The closest real-world example of the summoning mechanic is NEX for Neo-Spacians, another Archetype used by Jaden Yuki
