A Transformation Summon is the act of Special Summoning a Transformation Monster from the Extra Deck. This is done through the effects of certain cards, including "Form Change" and "Mask Change".

Chazz Princeton explained that Transformation Summoning is like Fusion Summoning, but with only a single component.

To date, Transformation Summons exist only in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga and exclusively within the "Masked HERO" archetype.

With the release of the Masked HEROS in Generation Force, Transformation Summon is now a simple Special Summon from the Extra Deck using Mask Change. However, previous methods resemble this type of summoning, including the transformation of "Elemental Hero Bubbleman" to "Elemental Hero Neo Bubbleman" and the NEX for Neo-Spacians, another Archetype used by Jaden Yuki.
