Mr. Clown is Ryuji Otogi's father. When he first appeared in the manga, his names was given as Mr. Crown, which was a mistake due to confusion between the letters "L" and "R" among Japanese speakers. The manga bunkoban corrected this mistake. In the English Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters video game, he was called Sindin the Clown.
At first, he acted as though a loving father, wanting Ryuji to avenge and succeed him. However, when Ryuji failed, Otogi revealed that Ryuji was born only to avenge him, and that failure means the boy has no more purpose to live.

In the secret room, Otogi pinned the Puzzle's chain down to a table, and tried to force Yugi to play the same game that he and Sugoroku played, and to make Yugi age rapidly, as he did. However, when Otogi tried to rebuild the puzzle for himself, he almost got trapped in an illusive maze, and knocked back a candle, setting his shop on fire. He barely escaped thanks to Yugi and his friends' help.
