FIRE (ほのお Honō "Flame") is an Attribute in Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Overview[edit]

FIRE monsters are almost without exception thematically associated with beings of flame and heat. The only Monster Type strongly associated with FIRE is Pyro, and in most other Monster Types FIRE monsters have an average representation rate.

In terms of card effects and playstyle, FIRE is associated direct confrontation, primarily by destroying the opponent's cards, as well as low-impact but flexible effects that maintain field advantage. They are also associated with effects that inflict effect damage, also known as "Burning". Many FIRE monsters and FIRE support cards also relate the Attribute to the stat line of 200 DEF.

In some card effects (e.g. "Duelittle Chimera") and in certain video games, the FIRE Attribute is positioned as the opposite of the WATER Attribute.
