Thunder (いかずち Ikazuchi) monsters are generally LIGHT Attribute, although there is a minority that are WIND or EARTH Attribute. Thunder monsters usually represent beings with electrical powers. Many Thunder-Type card effects and support cards focus upon destroying the opponent's monsters by effect. The "Batteryman" archetype is purely composed of Thunder-Type monsters, as is the "Watt" archetype.

Some of the more notable ones include "The Creator", "Mist Wurm", "Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder", "Zaborg the Thunder Monarch","Thunder King Rai-Oh", "Lightning Punisher" and "Mist Valley Thunder Lord".

"Thunder Dragon" is also a well-known Thunder-Type monster, for its Deck-thinning abilities and for his Fusion Monster counterpart, "Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon".

Support cards include "Electro-Whip", "Judgment of Thunder" "Mountain", "Umi", and "Makiu, the Magical Mist".
