Double Tuning (ダブルチューニング, Daburu Chūningu), also sometimes referred to as Over Tuning (オーバー・チューニング, Ōbā Chūningu), is a kind of Synchro Summon for which two Tuner monsters are used, rather than the usual one. It can be considered similar to Accel Synchro Summon, as they both are types of evolved Synchro Summon. It is not an official term in the card game, but has appeared in Yu-Gi-Oh! media.
While a number of conditions can create situations where Synchro Monsters are Synchro Summoned using 2 Tuners, Double Tuning primarily refers to Synchro Summoning monsters that specifically require 2 Tuners as materials; Synchro Summoning monsters such as "XX-Saber Gottoms" with 2 Tuners is not referred to as Double Tuning, because it doesn't specify that it requires 2 Tuners as materials.
Its upgrade, using 3 Tuner monsters, is Triple Tuning.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's[edit]
In the manga, Double Tuning was only seen in the second special chapter of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. It was used by Jack Atlas during his Duel against Yusei Fudo to Synchro Summon "Red Dragon King Red Dragon Calamity". Unlike the anime, no significant changes in the Summoning depiction were illustrated in the panels.
Video games[edit]
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links[edit]
In Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, "Red Nova Dragon" has a unique Synchro Summon animation when played by Jack Atlas, featuring the Tuner monsters transforming into rings of fire similarly to the Double Tuning appearance in the anime. Additionally, the animation has a red background instead of the usual blue. While "Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend" is also present and Jack will announce its Synchro Summon as Double Tuning, it uses the normal Synchro Summon animation.
