Lists

WIND (かぜ Kaze) monsters are often flying monsters, such as the "Harpie Ladies", perhaps one of the most famous WIND monsters among the game as well as in the anime. Compared to the other Attributes, this Attribute is the least represented among them, but the most common type associated with it is the Winged Beast-Type, though Insect, Fairy, Dragon, and Psychic are not uncommon. Notable Wind monsters include "Slate Warrior", "Raiza the Storm Monarch", "Raiza the Mega Monarch", "Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms", "Windrose the Elemental Lord", "Stardust Dragon", "Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack" and the "Armed Dragon" LV series. Wind is usually thought of as the opposite of EARTH, though there is no direct advantage other than in certain video games.

The strategy with WIND monsters is difficult to define, and not many players typically run Wind Decks, but a common theme with most (in the past) involve the removal of the opponent's Spell and Trap Cards, though some are designed to take advantage of an empty back row instead of destroying it, such as "Sonic Shooter" and "Simorgh, Bird of Divinity". Recently, they also have designed to have swarming capabilities and securing their field presences, along with wide-range of effects. Most of them doesn't have much in terms of ATK power, instead, they relies on their synergy to power-up and support each other.

Also there are many cards for the removal and/or destruction of Spell and Trap Cards that make reference to the Natural Phenomena related to the Wind like "Mystical Space Typhoon", "Twister", "Typhoon", "Tornado", "Dust Tornado", "Heavy Storm", "Cyclone Boomerang", "Malevolent Catastrophe" etc. along with "Harpie's Feather Duster".

WIND archetypes include: "Harpie", "Mist Valley", "Mecha Phantom Beast", "Dragunity", "Gusto", "Yosenju", "Ritual Beasts", "Speedroids" and "Majespecter". WIND monsters also have their own Structure Deck, Structure Deck 8: Lord of the Storm, and also the Structure Deck: Dragunity Legion which is comprised of WIND monsters from the aforementioned "Dragunity" archetype.

"Majestic Star Dragon" and "Shooting Star Dragon" are currently the two highest attack WIND attribute monsters with 3800 and 3300 ATK respectively.

Supporting Cards

It is very likely that WIND monsters have the least number of supporting cards, compared to the other Attributes (except DIVINE). In terms of Spell and Trap support cards, they come nowhere close to the other Attributes, despite the generally low amount of Attribute-related Spell and Trap cards that exist and the resulting low standards for having a number of these cards devoted to any given Attribute family. But a few of them include: "Flying Kamakiri #1", "Bladefly", "Silpheed", and "Garuda the Wind Spirit". "Rising Air Current" is a Field Spell Card which increases the ATK of WIND monsters, "Divine Wind of Mist Valley" allows the player to swarm the field with WIND monsters, while "Shrine of Mist Valley" can replace them when they're destroyed by card effects. "Quill Pen of Gulldos" can recycle WIND monsters from your Graveyard to return 1 card on the field to the hand, and "Spiritual Wind Art - Miyabi" is currently their best disruption card, which able to return its target to the bottom of the deck by Tributing 1 WIND monster.
