Cyberse (サイバース Saibāsu) is a Type of Monster Card. It first debuted as the V Jump May 2017 promotional card in the OCG, in Starter Deck: Link Strike in the TCG, and in Maximum Ultra Enhancement Pack in Rush Duel.

Overview

Cyberse monsters are creatures strongly connected to elements of digital technology and cyberspace. Often, they resemble either Insect, Machine or Psychic monsters, all three of which are also often depicted in relation of computing and the cyberspace. Many humanoids of the Type bear design elements homaging the TRON franchise, such as a visual design element colloquially called the "TRON lines"[1]. The Type's name is a portmanteau of "Cyber" (サイバー Saibā) and "Universe" (ユニバース Yunibāsu).

All six primary Attributes in the game contain Cyberse monsters, with particular concentration on the FIRE, LIGHT, and DARK Attributes. Their general play style revolves around swarming the field with weak monsters to easily Link Summon powerful Link Monsters. They also have lots of monsters that banish monsters for effects, or apply effects when banished, in a similar vein to Psychic monsters.

Appearance in media

In Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, the Cyberse monsters are a special kind of monster related to the Cyberse world, created by the Ignis. When Playmaker used these monsters in his Duel against the Knights of Hanoi, the spectators were surprised to see him possess Cyberse monsters.[2] As stated by Varis, through unknown means the Knights of Hanoi had destroyed a vast number of them to the point they believed Cyberse monsters to be extinct. Initially, very few characters use Cyberse monsters until the other Ignis and their creations begin to surface, who all use Cyberse Decks.

The following characters use Cyberse monsters across the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise.
