Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS[edit]

A Master Duel layout

In the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime, the term is used to describe the standard Duel format used in previous Yu-Gi-Oh! series. It uses the standard Dueling rules instead of Speed Duel rules.[2]

Varis describes a Master Duel as a game mode that unleashes the true potential of Link Monsters.[2] This is due to the extra Monster Zones that don't exist in the Speed Duel format which give more potential for Linked Zones.
