Rudger is the leader of the Dark Signers. He says that they have been waiting for 5,000 years in order to carry out revenge against the Signers, and expects for this fierce battle to be most "exceptional". He wears black robes accented with red stripes which corresponds to his Earthbound God, as his dark mark represents the Spider. He's also been shown to be in possession of the "Ancient Fairy Dragon" card, although how he obtained it is unknown.

He has the ability to possess ordinary people using spiders he controls; potentially using them as pseudo or "fake" Dark signers who act as unwilling and unsuspecting pawns for him. As now only two people have been used as a fake dark signer in the series so far, being Dick Pitt, a street duelist used to test Yusei Fudo, and Trudge, a security officer used to test Jack Atlas.

The number of his "Dark Spiders" currently possesing a victim is indicated by the number of legs missing from his birthmark. When one of them loses, the spider controlling them dies, causing Rudger's birthmark to regrow its missing limb. Which seems to cause him pain when one of the people he controls loses as shown when Yusei won and he gripped onto his arm in pain.

Later on once the Signers along with Mina, Leo and Trudge go back to Satellite they are greeted by Martha. Thus as everyone is later sitted on the table and having supper, Rudger suddenly appears in order to duel. Jack wants to but is stopped by Yusei as he tells him that its too dangerous to duel here. Especially if a geoplyph appears and so he tells him to get take Martha and the kids in her home to a much safer place. As Yusei will duel him at another location , he's accompanied by Akiza, while Jack and others go someplace else safe.

However, three of the children have decided to watch the duel. Meanwhile, as Rudger and Yusei's Shadow Duel begins, consequently his Spider geoglyph materializes. As the duel unfolds, he and Akiza then notice two kids near in the flames and wonder how they got in when they are not signers. As Rudger activates Earthbound Immortal's Temple, a trap that will allow him to special his Earthbound Immortal directly from his deck. They both realize and fear that once it's summoned it could use the kids' souls as sacrifices.

Deck

Rudger plays a Spider Deck which focuses around Swarming and changing the Battle Position of monsters on the Field and later on, taking control of them. He also have an alternate strategy of summoning his Earthbound God through the trap card Earthbound Immortal's Temple, which gains counters for every monster switched to Defense Position by the field spell Spider Web Field.
