Winged Kuriboh, known as the White Feathered Spirit, was weighed against the [[Feather of Ma'at]]. The White Feathered Spirit represented the sin in Tragoedia's heart, while the feather represented righteousness, truth and order. Tragoedia's sins greatly outweighed righteousness, truth and order, causing the White Feathered Spirit's end of the scales to immediately hit the ground. The sins were so strong that Winged Kuriboh turned black.

Sometimes he would appear when Jaden needed him the most, like when he was in a tough situation, or to tell him the card he will draw could help him. In episode 4, Ms. Dorothy gave Jaden "[[Winged Kuriboh LV10]]", along with "[[Transcendent Wings]]", to which he used to defeat Chazz. In the manga, Jaden also has a Winged Kuriboh LV9 which he summons in his battle with Seika Kohinata. He uses the card Alchemical Experiment to summon it. By doing so, he wins the Duel.

Winged Kuriboh (character)

Winged Kuriboh is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. It is the Duel Monster Spirit of the card "Winged Kuriboh" and serves as Jaden Yuki's main Spirit Partner. Originally, the "Winged Kuriboh" card was in possession of Yugi Muto before he gave it to Jaden at the beginning of the series.

Design[edit]

Winged Kuriboh highly resembles its predecessor, "Kuriboh" and his spirit form in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. It shares a similar design with "Kurioh", being a small, round monster whose body is covered in brown shaggy hair, green extremities with claws, and large ovular eyes with yellow sclera and large black pupils making up most of the eyes. Unlike the original "Kuriboh", however, Winged Kuriboh has a pair of white angelic wings on its back.

Seven Stars[edit]

Starting Year at Duel Academy[edit]

While Jaden Yuki was running late for his Duel Academy entrance exams in Domino City, he accidentally ran into Yugi Muto. After Jaden recognized him, Yugi gives him the "Winged Kuriboh" card, calling it a "lucky card" and it wanted to be with Jaden (in the English dubbed version, Yugi says something told him that it belonged with Jaden) before wishing him luck with thumbs up gesture and walking away. As Jaden admired the "Winged Kuriboh" card, he heard the voice of its spirit, wondering where it came from before hurrying to the entrance exams.

During Jaden's Duel with Dr. Vellian Crowler, he heard the voice of Winged Kuriboh right before he drew its card form. As Jaden read the card's effect, the image of "Winged Kuriboh" moved and winked at him before he Summoned it to his field. "Winged Kuriboh" is destroyed by Crowler's "Ancient Gear Golem", prompting Jaden to apologize to it, and stood up for him when Crowler called it a "throwaway card" (in the dub he called it "lame"), which ultimately set up Jaden to defeat Crowler. After Jaden passes the examination, Jaden pulls put the "Winged Kuriboh" card and declared they would be partners, causing the image of the monster to wink at him once again.[1]

Winged Kuriboh has communicated through its card form during Jaden's first Duel with Chazz Princeton[2], and later in their second Duel. Jaden Summoned "Winged Kuriboh" against Chazz's "VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon", which was adored by the female students in the audience. Jaden evolved "Winged Kuriboh into "Winged Kuriboh LV10" with "Transcendent Wings" to destroy "Dragon Catapult Cannon" and inflict its 3000 ATK to Chazz.[3]

While telling ghost stories with his Slifer Red dormmates, Syrus Truesdale and Chumley Huffington, Jaden told the story of how he could hear the voices of Duel Monsters Spirits when he was a child and have recently heard them again since the day of his entrance exam, likely referring to Winged Kuriboh.[4]

During Jaden's Duel against Titan underneath the Abandoned Dorm, an orb of light representing Winged Kuriboh's spirit appeared from his Deck and revealed that Titan's Shadow Game was a hypnotic gimmick to confuse his opponents. The spirits of the Abandoned Dorm were angered by this and transported the two Duelists into a dark realm where the shadow creatures possessed Titan. As the shadow creatures attempted to possess Jaden, the spirit of Winged Kuriboh manifested for the first time and repelled the shadow creatures. After Titan is defeated and dragged into the darkness by the shadow creatures, Winged Kuriboh guided Jaden to a glowing tear in the darkness and helped him escape back to the Abandoned Dorm.[5]

The spirit of Winged Kuriboh has since manifested to Jaden, often serving as his guide or appearing when Dueling certain opponents. These instances were first seen when Winged Kuriboh helped guide Jaden to find Syrus while he attempted to row away from Duel Academy on a raft, and when it first appeared to Jaden after he drew its card and "Transcendent Wings" during his Duel with Zane Truesdale.[6]

During Jaden's Duel with Jinzo, Winged Kuriboh appeared to Jaden after the former drew his card. When Jinzo noticed the spirit, Jaden argued that Winged Kuriboh, unlike Jinzo, does not need sacrifice to power himself.[7]

Winged Kuriboh appeared to Jaden when they noticed Brier's anger towards the Obelisk Blue students who bullied him, and when they deduced that Beauregard was the Duel Giant. When Jaden faced off against the Duel Giant, Winged Kuriboh suggested to Jaden he would put his card form would be put up for an ante. When Jaden drew "Winged Kuriboh" on his first turn, he summoned it to his field by the spirit's suggestion.[8]

Jaden Dueled Dimitri, who copied off Yugi's appearance and Dueling using his stolen Deck that went on tour. After Jaden drew "Winged Kuriboh", its spirit became eager to battle against Yugi's Deck, with his card image depicting his happy face. Jaden Summoned "Winged Kuriboh" in Defense Position and forced Dimitri's "Kuriboh" to battle it with "Super Junior Confrontation". When Dimitri Summoned "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" and forced Jaden into a corner, Winged Kuriboh convinced him to continue because he was Dueling an opponent pretending to be Yugi (in the dub, Winged Kuriboh convinced him that Dimitri did not have the "Heart of the Cards"). This enabled Jaden to make a comeback, defeat Dimitri, and convince him to return Yugi's Deck.[9]

Winged Kuriboh appeared when Jaden Dueled Blair Flannigan, allowing him to witness the events of the Duel happening in the Duel Monsters Spirit World when "Elemental Hero Avian" become infatuated with Blair's "Maiden in Love" after battling it, much to Winged Kuriboh's embarrassment. For the duration of the Duel, Winged Kuriboh continued to let Jaden witness the Duel coincide with the events in the spirit world, including when "Elemental Hero Sparkman" also become infatuated with "Maiden in Love", and when a displeased "Elemental Hero Burstinatrix" forced both infatuated "Heroes" to return to Jaden's hand. After Blair is defeated, Jaden and Winged Kuriboh both exchanged a satisfied look before the latter disappeared.[10]

When Jaden encounters Belowski, a student who could also see Duel Monsters Spirits, Winged Kuriboh emerged from Jaden's Deck and began acting carefree. Winged Kuriboh stayed by Jaden for the duration of the Duel.[11]

During Jaden and Chazz's Duel in the interschool match between Duel Academy and North Academy, Jaden Summoned "Winged Kuriboh" to use its effect to prevent battle damage from Chazz's "Armed Dragon LV7". Winged Kuriboh spotted and pointed out to Jaden the spirit of the "Ojama Yellow" card manifesting around Chazz, much to Jaden's surprise.[12]
