- Marik uses this many times to revive his "The Sun Dragon Ra" multiple times in his Duel against Yugi. The first time was with his "Revival of the Dark" to use Marik's "Monster Reborn", which Yugi had placed in his Graveyard, from Yugi's Graveyard to revive "The Sun Dragon Ra" in "Egyptian God Phoenix" mode to destroy Yugi's "Slifer the Sky Dragon". He then used "Zombie's Jewel" to add it back to his hand and revive "Ra" using One Turn Kill as well as let Yugi draw one card. Marik later uses "Magical Stone Excavation" to add "Monster Reborn" back to his hand, and revive "Ra" in it God Phoenix mode, but Yugi used his own "Monster Reborn" to revive "Slifer" to protect his "The God of the Obelisk" from "Ra".
King's Memories[edit]
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 327 (Millennium World Duel 49): "I Won't Give Up!!", this card was one of the cards Yugi Muto discarded via the effect of Dark Bakura's "All Killing Death Card" during their Duel.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 342 (Millennium World Duel 64): "The Last Gamble!!", Yugi Muto uses this card during his Duel against Atem. Yugi seals this card in "Gold Sarcophagus". In the next chapter, Atem activates this card, reviving "Slifer the Sky Dragon", but Yugi reveals that he had sealed this card in "Gold Sarcophagus", negating this card's effect.

- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Give up the Ghost", 10: "Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against the Impersonator of Death. He uses this card to revive one of the two "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" in the impersonator's Graveyard under his control.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Evil Spirit of the Ring", Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against 13: "Yami Bakura. He uses this card to revive "Cyber Commander" (which contained Tristan Taylor's soul at the time). Later Yami Yugi Flips "Magician of Faith" (that contained Téa Gardner's soul at the time) face-up in order to activate its Flip Effect, allowing Yami Yugi to return this card from his Graveyard to his hand. Yami Yugi then uses this card to revive "Flame Swordsman" (which contained Joey Wheeler's soul at the time), which saves Joey from being destroyed by the "Reaper of the Cards" spirit.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Double Trouble Duel, Part 3", Yami Yugi uses this card during his Tag Duel with 21: "Joey Wheeler against the Paradox Brothers. He uses this card to revive Dox's "Suijin" under his control.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Face Off, Part 3", 24: "Seto Kaiba uses this card during his Duel against Yami Yugi. He uses this card to revive his "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" as a third head for his "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" (which had its ATK reduced down to 900 thanks to the combo involving "Mammoth Graveyard", "Polymerization" and "Living Arrow").
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Champion vs. Creator, Part 2", Kaiba uses this card during his Duel against 27: "Maximillion Pegasus. He uses this card to revive "Saggi the Dark Clown". This was the only move Kaiba could make due to "Crush Card" obliterating all of the cards in his Deck except this card.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Duel Identity, Part 2", Yami Yugi and 30: "Mai Valentine both use this card during their Duel against each other. Mai uses her copy to revive "Harpie's Pet Dragon". Later Yugi uses his own copy to revive "Gaia The Fierce Knight".

- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode The Master of Magicians, Part 2", Yami Yugi and 61: "Arkana both use this card during their Duel against each another. Both players use this card to revive their respective "Dark Magicians" after both "Dark Magicians" were destroyed in a Double KO.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Mime Control, Part 3", Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against 67: "Strings while the latter was possessed by Marik Ishtar. He uses this card to revive "Buster Blader". This activates the effect of "Card of Safe Return", allowing Strings to draw three cards. This also activates the second mouth effect of "Slifer the Sky Dragon", decreasing the ATK of "Buster Blader" by 2000.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Double Duel, Part 1", this card was shown in Kaiba's hand during his Tag Duel with 70: "Yami Yugi against Lumis and Umbra. In the next episode, Kaiba activates this card to revive his "Blue-Eyes White Dragon".
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode The Dark Spirit Revealed, Part 2", Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against 83: "Yami Bakura. He uses this card to revive Bakura's "Dark Necrofear" under his control. This cancels out Bakura's "Dark Sanctuary" since "Dark Necrofear" was no longer in Bakura's Graveyard.

Crump intended to use this card to revive "The Legendary Fisherman" as part of his strategy to get the upper hand again (and also planned to activate "A Legendary Ocean" which would complete his plan on rebuilding the Big Five's previous combo). However Yugi thwarts Crump's strategy by activating "Card Destruction", which forces all players to discard their hand and redraw a new one.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Noah's Final Threat, Part 2", Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against 118: "Noah Kaiba. He uses this card to revive Seto's "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (as this was because this Duel was a continuation of Noah's Duel with Kaiba and Noah used "Shinato, King of a Higher Plane" to destroy "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in battle as his winning move).
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Burying the Past - Part 2", Kaiba uses this card during his Duel against 121: "Gozaburo Kaiba. He uses this card to revive "Ancient Lamp".
Battle City (part 2)[edit]
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode The Darkness Returns - Part 3", 127: "Yami Marik uses this card during his Duel against Joey Wheeler. He uses this card to revive "The Winged Dragon of Ra".
- In episode 132, Yami Yugi and Seto Kaiba both use this card during their duel against each other. Yugi uses his copy to revive "Dark Magician". Later "Dark Magician" attacks "Lord of D.", but Seto activates "Magical Trick Mirror" to activate Yugi's copy as his card, allowing Kaiba to revive "Obelisk the Tormentor" and use to intercept the attack. This causes the attack to fail. Two episodes later, Kaiba activates his own copy to revive "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". After Kaiba activates "Polymerization" to fuse his three "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" together and Fusion Summon "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", Yugi activates "Double Spell" to activate both Spell Cards that Kaiba activated this turn. Yugi first uses the effect of Kaiba's copy to revive "Buster Blader".
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Battle for the Bronze - Part 2", Joey and Kaiba both use this card during their Duel against each other. Joey used his copy of this card to revive Kaiba's "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (which Joey destroyed via " 136: "Enemy Controller" (which was used via "Graverobber")) under his control. Later Kaiba attacks "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" with another "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", destroying both monsters in a Double KO. Kaiba then activates his own copy of this card to revive one of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" that was destroyed.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode The Final Face Off - Part 1", 138: "Yami Marik uses this card during his Duel against Yami Yugi. He adds this card from his Deck to his hand via "Left Arm Offering". Yugi then activates "Exchange" to take this card from Yami Marik. Yami Yugi then activates this card to revive "Queen's Knight". Later "Slifer the Sky Dragon" attacks directly, but Yami Marik activates "Dark Spell Regeneration" to activate this card from the Graveyard and revive "Ra". In the next episode, Marik activates "Zombie's Jewel" to add this card from the Graveyard to his hand. He then activates this card to revive "Ra" again. In the following episode, Marik activates "Mining for Magical Stones" to add this card from the Graveyard to his hand. In the next episode, Marik uses this card to revive "Ra" again. Yami Marik then activates the "Egyptian God Phoenix" effect of "Ra" to destroy "Obelisk the Tormentor", but Yugi activates his own copy of this card to revive "Slifer the Sky Dragon" and use it to intercept the effect, destroying "Slifer" and saving "Obelisk".
- In the first above-mentioned episode, this card appears in a flashback Joey has when he remembers his Duel with Yami Marik and when he is explaining to his friends that Yami Marik just needs this card in order to bring "The Winged Dragon of Ra" out because many of its devastating effects can be activated when it's revived.

- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode A New Evil - Part 1", 145: "Gurimo uses this card during his Duel against Yami Yugi. He uses this card to revive "Marauding Captain". In the next episode, Yugi uses his own copy of this card to revive "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior".
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode The Creator Returns", this card appears in Yugi's thoughts when Yami Yugi notes that although Pegasus no longer has the 148: "Millennium Eye, he was the chosen one and he was the creator of Duel Monsters.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Deja Duel! - Part 2", 150: "Seto Kaiba uses this card during his Duel against Alister. He uses this card to revive "Blue-Eyes White Dragon".
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode My Freaky Valentine - Part 2", this card is shown in 153: "Joey Wheeler's hand during his Duel against Mai Valentine. In the next episode, Joey activates this card to revive "The Fiend Megacyber".
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Trial by Stone", this card is shown when 159: "Weevil Underwood and Rex Raptor are taken to a vault within Paradius's headquarters that contains copies of every card in existence (with the exception of the Legendary Dragons and the Egyptian Gods).
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Self Destruction", 163: "Yugi Muto uses this card during his Duel against Yami Yugi. He uses this card to revive "Dark Magician Girl". In the same Duel, this card is shown in Yami Yugi's hand, but he discards it due to the effect of "Card Destruction".
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Flight of Fear - Part 1", Kaiba uses this card during his Duel against Alister. He uses this card to revive " 166: "Y-Dragon Head".
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Fighting for a Friend - Part 3", Joey and 171: "Valon both use this card during their Duel against each other. Joey uses this card to revive "Rocket Warrior". Later, Valon uses his own copy to revive "Buster Pyle". Joey, in response, activates "Scapegoat" to summon four Sheep Tokens. The effect of "Lord of the Red" then activates, destroying all other monsters on the field.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Fighting for a Friend - Part 4", this card is shown in Mai's hand during her Duel against Joey. In 172: "the next episode, Mai activates this card to revive one of her "Cyber Harpies".
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Grappling with a Guardian - Part 1", Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against 174: "Rafael. He uses this card to revive "Queen's Knight". In the next episode, Yami Yugi activates the effect of "Amulet Dragon" to banish all Spell Cards from his Graveyard and increase its ATK by 300 for each Spell Card banished this way. In the following episode, Rafael discards this card in order to activate "Orichalcos Sword of Sealing". Later Yami Yugi activates "Spider Web" to take Rafael's copy and add it to his hand. Yami Yugi then activates Rafael's copy in order to revive "Guardian Eatos".

- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Sinister Secrets - Part 3", 198: "Leon von Schroeder and Yami Yugi both use this card during their Duel against each other. Leon uses his copy to revive "Cinderella". This activates the latter's effect, allowing Leon to Special Summon "Pumpkin Carriage" from the Graveyard. Later Yugi activates his own copy to revive "Dark Magician".

- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Spiritual Awakening", Kaiba uses this card during his Duel against 200: "Yami Bakura. He uses this card to revive on of the two "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" in his Graveyard.
- This card also appears within Kaiba's briefcase when he opens it up and takes his Duel Disk with him.
Battle Ritual[edit]
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode The Final Duel - Part 4", 224: "Yugi Muto and Yami Yugi both use this card during their Duel against each other. Yugi activates "Gold Sarcophagus" to banish this card from his Deck. Later Yami Yugi activates his copy to revive "Slifer the Sky Dragon" (whose ATK became 4000 due to Yami having four cards in his hand) as part of his final winning move. Yugi then activates the effect of "Gold Sarcophagus" to reveal the card he banished. To Yami Yugi's shock, the banished card was this card. Due to the effect of "Gold Sarcophagus", the effect of Yami's copy is negated. This means that "Slifer the Sky Dragon" goes back to the Graveyard.
- In the original, Ishizu Ishtar comments during the Duel that this card represents Yugi's final message to Yami Yugi: "The dead should not linger in the world of the living".

- In Yu-Gi-Oh! GX episode The Next King of Games", this card was shown in 1: "Jaden Yuki's hand during his Duel against Vellian Crowler. Dr. Crowler later activates "Confiscation" to send this card from Jaden's hand to the Graveyard.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! GX episode Welcome to Duel Academy", Jaden Yuki tries to 2: "activate this card during his Duel against Chazz Princeton, but he never got the chance to do so. Jaden had intended to use this card to revive "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" as part of his winning move, but the Duel ends prematurely due to external influences. Jaden later revealed to Alexis Rhodes that this card was the card he drew on the last turn of the Duel.

- In Yu-Gi-Oh! GX episode Rah, Rah, Ra!", 85: "Franz draws this card during his Duel against Jaden. He draws this card via the effect of Jaden's "Neo-Spacian Glow Moss". This would mean that the attack made by "Glow Moss" attack can be changed to a direct attack, however Franz activates "De-Fusion" to separate himself from "Ra", decrease the ATK and DEF of "Ra" to 0, and increase his Life Points by the ATK of "Ra". "Glow Moss" then attacks and destroys "The Winged Dragon of Ra". After "Elemental Hero Neos" attacks directly, Franz had intended to activate this card on his next turn in order to Special Summon "Ra" from his Graveyard and win the Duel. Franz never got the chance to do so as Jaden defeated Franz before that could happen.

- This card is also shown in a flashback Alexis has when she reveals to Chazz that although he believed he had Jaden completely cornered during their first Duel, he (Chazz) might not have actually won. Alexis then reveals that the card Jaden drew before the Duel got called off was this card and Jaden was going to use it to revive "Flame Wingman" and win the Duel. Chazz got mad at this revelation and demanded Jaden to come back, so he can defeat him (as initially he didn't care about Jaden not coming back).

Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS[edit]
In this series, "Monster Reborn" also serves as a plot device, known in-universe as a "forbidden card" that can turn the tides of a duel; additionally, when a certain chant is spelled after resolving its effect, its user can manipulate the memories of their opponents, as used by Yuo Goha to seal Yuga Goha's personality and turn him into "Swirly", and later by the freed Yuga against Yuo to seal his scheming personality and dueling knowledge.
History[edit]
- During his days working in the Development Department of Goha Enterprises, Otes created this card for the purpose of igniting courage within the hearts of meek Duelists. At some point after this, this card's power was used on Yuga Goha, sealing his meeker personality and all his memories related to it, and amplifying his fiercer side.
- At some point between the previous incident and the present, Yuga Goha had printed the card using the Duel Card Manufacturer under Goha Enterprises HQ in hopes of using its forbidden power, but was stopped by Yuo when he unexpectedly printed his own copy and used it to seal Yuga's fiercer personality away.
Goha Employee[edit]
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS episode Rush Ghoul", 74: "Nana Nanahoshi used this card in her off-screen Duel against "Swirls", in an attempt to unseal Yuga Goha. However, she failed to completely do so because she didn't know of the chant necessary to release the seal, and only managed to made Swirly gone feral instead.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS episode Monster Reborn!", the Goha siblings Yuo and Yuga both use this card in their Rush Duel against each other. Yuo activates it to Special Summon " 77: "Mechaleon" from Yuga's Graveyard, and uses its power to fully unseal Yuga's original personality from Swirls' body. Yuga activates it to Special Summon "Imaginary Actor" from Yuo's Graveyard and uses its power to seal Yuo's scheming personality and Dueling knowledge.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS episode Yuga vs. Yuga", Yuga Goha uses this card in his off-screen Duels against 78: "Scoop Pitman, Yosh Imimi, Sushiko Maki, Saburamen and Briscoe, sealing away their memories of Yuga Ohdo and his friends, and of Rush Dueling.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS episode Counting Cards", Yuga Goha uses this card in his Rush Duel against 79: "Luke, who replaced the unconscious Yuga Ohdo. He activates it to Special Summon "Sevens Road Magician" from Luke's Graveyard and uses its power to seal the memories of Luke, Gavin Sogetsu, Romin Kassidy, Roa Kassidy, Nail Saionji and Asana Mutsuba in regards to Rush Dueling, although Luke and Roa managed to resist the spell due to knowing and connecting with Yuga prior to the invention of Rush Dueling.
King of Duels[edit]
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS episode Mindwiped", Yuga Goha uses this card in his Rush Duel against Otes. He activates it to Special Summon " 81: "Dark Magician" from Otes' Graveyard. At the end of the episode, all three copies of "Monster Reborn" known to exist (Yuga Goha's, Yuo's and Nana's) are destroyed by Yuga Goha and Nana.

- Maximillion Pegasus and Kaiba both use this card during their Duel against each other. Kaiba was forced to discard this card via the effect of "Toon-Gemini Elf". Later Pegasus uses his copy to revive "Toon-Gemini Elf".
- Yami Yugi and Kaiba both use this card during their Duel against each other. Yami Yugi uses this card to revive "Dark Magician Girl". Later Kaiba uses his copy to revive "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon". Later Yami Yugi activates "Double Spell" to activate Kaiba's copy of this card from the Graveyard and revive "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" under his control.
Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions[edit]
- This card first appears in a flashback in which Yugi reflects on the Rite of the Duel, remembering himself sealing "Monster Reborn" in "Gold Sarcophagus", Atem walking through the Doorway to the Underworld and the Millennium Items falling into the depths of the Earth.
- Yugi Muto uses this card during his Duel against Seto Kaiba. Yugi gives this card to Kaiba to activate the effect of "Magical Contract Door", allowing him to add a monster from his Deck to his hand. Later, Kaiba sends this card to the Graveyard to activate the effect of his "High Speed Aria", intending to Special Summon his "Deep-Eyes White Dragon" from the Graveyard, however, Yugi activates "Final Geas" in response to banish all monsters in both Graveyards.

- In North American WCQ 2011 Special: Yugi vs. Yusei, Yugi activates this card to Special Summon "Buster Blader", which had been discarded by "Graceful Charity".
- In YCS Providence 2012 Special: Mai, Joey and Yugi vs. Pegasus and Bakura, Maximillion Pegasus uses this card against Yugi. He activates this to Special Summon Yugi's "Summoned Skull", which had been discarded by "Graceful Charity". The next turn, Yugi activates his own copy to Special Summon his "Dark Magician Girl", which had been discarded by "Graceful Charity".
- In North American WCQ 2012 Special: Joey vs. Kaiba, Kaiba activates this card to Special Summon his "Alexandrite Dragon", which had been discarded by "Graceful Charity".

Later, Pegasus activates this card, Special Summoning "Toon Cyber Dragon", which was destroyed by battle last turn by Marik's "Gravekeeper's Assailant" (which had 2000 ATK due to the effect of Marik's "Necrovalley"), in Attack Position from his Graveyard.
- In the non-canon duel World Championship 2016 Special: Yugi vs. Kaiba, Yugi predicts that this card is the top card of his Deck after activating "The True Name", and is successful. He subsequently activates this card to Special Summon "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" from his Graveyard. This card is returned to his hand via the effect of "Dark Magician of Chaos", and activated again to Special Summon "Dark Magician" from the Graveyard.
