Battle Ox (ZEXAL character)

Battle Ox, known as Minotaurus in the Japanese version, is a character version of the card "Battle Ox". He appears in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime and manga series, as an Ancient Egyptian Duel Spirit. He appears in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime as the guardian of "Number 65: Judge Buster the Adjudicutting Djinn".

Design

Appearance

In Yu-Gi-Oh!, Battle Ox was simply a monster card– one very closely tied with it's master Seto Kaiba– and had an ox or minotaur-like appearance with brownish skin. He was covered in red-orange armor with gold trim and has horns on top of his head and shoulders, along with a helmet of the same colors. He also had bandages on his arms and legs and wielded a large axe as a weapon.

In Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, he appears in the same form as a character, but with a different color scheme. The character version of Battle Ox had blue skin, and his armor became primarily yellow with silver trim.

Yu-Gi-Oh! biography

In a battle against Thief Bakura, Priest Seto Summoned the Duel Spirit, Battle Ox. He later Summoned Mystic Horseman and Karim used the Millennium Scales to fuse them into the Rabid Horseman.[1]

Number 96: Dark Mist 101 Lose (off-screen)

In Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, Battle Ox had a Deck, which was not shown, as he was defeated off-screen. Unlike the other Number Guardians, he had no immediately obvious connection with the Barian tied to his ruins –Vector.

Speculation

Since Vector's past life was infamous for being alone, he had no suitable ally to serve as the Ruin's guardian. However, the Battle Ox seen in ZEXAL may actually be the same duel spirit seen in ancient Egypt, now acting as a Demonic or monstrous vessel for all the people Vector sent to death as a human.
